Stretch Satin with Fleece liner. It is meant for indoor use. They have outdoor covers as well.

Recommended by Lou Fusz and I am very happy with it. Very good quality and worth the money.

Thanks! +1 rep, a little to much $$ for me though :)

i have a Griot's dust car cover for my G but ended up not using it much. thing is i have a battery manager hooked up to it (hood not completely closed, cord dangling) and also i like to sit in the car from time to time while hibernating. :p

it's the same way for my Z so i decided not to get a cover for it. my garage door doesnt open for a few months once both cars are in hibernation so not much dust to begin with.

Weather here in the midwest has been really mild. I was driving my car until yesterday. Really enjoyed it and now I feel like my girl dumped me or something.

I'm sufferin' form the So-Cal envy. We have snow and ice in Ohio.

Holliday 12-12-2010 04:33 PM

:ohsnap1: Sunny and 25 degrees tomorrow! I have already went on USAA.com and updated my insurance. I will be driving the Z tomorrow and installing my Berk CBE at the hobby shop on base! :happydance:

My Stormproof cover just arrived. Unfortunately, my garage only holds one car, so the Z has to sleep outside. Need to give the Z a bath and hook up the battery tender before I can test the cover. Review and pics to come.

kenchan 12-13-2010 10:35 AM

both my G and Z have been sleeping inside since early Dec. :p

i periodically check up on them once a couple of days.

How easily do all-weather covers fly off from wind? This cover has the elastics to go around the bumpers and is maybe a 200-300 dollar cover. It has eyelets at the middle of the side of the car to tie underneath, but I didn't think I needed to.

I got home last night after being gone all weekend to find that the back half of the cover was on top of my roof, getting rained on. My initial thought was that someone was screwing with me.

One more question - can you put a cover back on the car while the car's wet? Does it breathe through the cover?

kenchan 12-13-2010 10:53 AM

wind can take it up pretty easily. there should be strap holes you use to lock down your cover from wind.

Hijinks 12-13-2010 03:54 PM

Eagerly awaiting my Xi2's to come, hurry up UPS! If we keep getting 18" snowfalls it isn't going to matter

kenchan 12-13-2010 04:10 PM

lol, that was some storm you guys got over there. :D (jokes aside that was a nasty storm...)

Hijinks 12-13-2010 04:27 PM

Might be getting more on Wednesday, need it to stay away because I won't even be able to make it to the shop to have the wheels mounted.

The cable and lock was only an extra $10 when I ordered from my cover from carcoverplanet.com.
You can probably put together a similar cable and lock setup with stuff from the hardware store or a bicycle shop.

You shouldn't cover a wet car.

Thanks, I better take the cover off before it freezes

Hey, do you guys typically unhook the battery or use a trickle charger for it? just curious... or do you just leave the battery hooked up all winter?

kenchan 12-14-2010 12:22 PM

pelican i use a battery tender (sold through amazon $20 or so) and keep the battery plugged in.

since i only drive my Z on the weekends even during the summer months i have the car plugged in during the week. :) i expect my batteries to last minimum 7yrs. the last car i sold years ago had a 7yr old battery and the cca was still very high.

kenchan 12-15-2010 11:32 AM

Same here :( Iowa winters are horrific. My car has been put out of commission for the season since first week of Dec. It's NOT even officially winter yet SIGH :(

But yeah, my car never sees rain or snow, so she's done for the season. I do however find myself sitting in it every so often. Man, I miss her :( I had to switch insurance rates as well...

radek7633 12-15-2010 11:04 PM

3 Ft of snow in Southern Ontario... thank goodness for having a winter-car. :(

Do the large 18-19" tires make a difference on snow. My old 280Z had 14" snow tires and I drove, albeit with some difficulty, all season.

Hey Guys,

For you who garage your car for the winter, do you worry about getting "flat spots" in your tires? I was told that jacking the car up for the winter is bad for the suspension, but letting it sit is also bad for the tires. Let me know what you guys think on this...

pelican i use flatstoppers under my G and Z. they work great. i still turn them 1/3 of a turn by hand once a month just to be safe. i use 42psi in the tires.

before i used flatstoppers i turned the tires by hand every 3wks at 42psi. no issue on the ground.

look at the bright side :)

1- Enough time to save up for some new mods.
2- Less mileage on your car.
3- Less wear and tear = Less maintenance = more money to achieve point 1.
4- Enough time to search for the best mods.

Good luck and i am sure it would be great to drive her after the long time.

Nice pic. Treat your Z to some 25mm spacers on the rear too though. Made my winter setup looks much better without the sunken rims.

Save your money. You won't get flat spots if your car sits for a few months. If your still concerned, move your car back a couple inches every two months.
