What are your unique 370Z experiences?

What I mean is, what are some things that have happened to you since you got your Z, that wouldn't be possible if you didn't have it. It could be positive or negative.

It have something to do with he performance of the car or anything else.

Whether it be a person that looked at you a certain way (because of the Z) or other cars around OR small details about the car that just made you say, "W-Wow... Well ain't that something..."

molamann 03-19-2009 02:02 PM

I've mentioned this in another thread but I've had people in another car take pictures of me in the car while driving in a busy interstate.

Yeah, man, that's actually the thread that gave me this idea. LOL, if I was in your shoes, that would be the time you have to put the pedal to the metal. :driving:

A couple kids in an SRT-4 did that to me the week I got the car, was kind of scary.

For me though, it has to be a time when I was driving to work, which takes me right over the Bay Bridge into the city, I had a group of guys on sport bikes (CBR's Duc's SV's etc...) and the two lead guys pulled along side me a slowed down to give me a thumbs up, and it became all the guys in their group were about surrounding me on the middle of the bridge to look at my car.

A side note, I think this car is a hit with sport bike riders...

Jungle Prop 03-19-2009 05:28 PM

This car definitely turns heads. This is my first Z, and it gets way more looks than my M3 did.

A $36K loss on my last bank statement.

theDreamer 03-19-2009 08:32 PM

I have not bought mine yet, but was test driving one during lunch (blue). The moment I got up onto the freeway and got over one lane, any car that was in eye sight got to the lane next to me to see the car and the car in front of me moved out of the way and nodded for me to go. I have never had that happen when driving in a car...but it felt...well, great.

1. A random guy stops his suv in front of my house. Gets out of his suv. Takes pictures of my Z. Then, drive away.

2. Numerous people in their car (on highway) pointing to the Z as I was passing them (or they were passing me).

3. A RN at a Doctor office loved the Z so much, she made an announcement in the waiting area looking for the owner and I had to show her the car.

4. At least 10 civics did ricer fly by as I was driving on public roads following strict break-in procedure :ugh2:

5. 3 Young girls(18-25 years) and a guy was crossing the street as I stopped at the light. Guy gave me  while the girls approved the Z by smiling and pointing to it.

Anatoray 03-19-2009 08:46 PM

MY most unique experience is getting tailed by a black 350Z when I went to the bank. He backed into the spot next to mine and introduced himself as "Officer" and really freaked me out lol. Turns out he's in the local Z club here and just wanted to invite me to it. It was kind of surreal seeing my black 370 next to his black 350. The people in bank were all looking out of the huge glass doors at us, haha.

bluzman 03-19-2009 08:57 PM

Ended up with my red 370 next to a red 350 on the way down the I-5 the other morning. The pair of Z's drew a lot of stares.

joeyz10 03-19-2009 11:30 PM

I was tailed by a Porsche Cayman S, we both accelerated and he ate my DUST!!!

06350Zrjd 03-19-2009 11:38 PM

OT do 7 spd auto have lower 0-60 time than manual6 spd?

joeyz10 03-19-2009 11:39 PM

There was a write up and comparison on mt and 7at. The 7 at is pretty close to mt infact they are almost identical

he must not of given it enough gas.... lol

ZCarGo 03-20-2009 09:16 PM

I have had numerous people who have given me the thumbs up.

I had one guy follow me down the road and into the gas station to tell me that my car is "one bad *** car" and that "it must be fast as $hit". I just smiled and said, "Yup"

Another guy was basically circling me at 70mph geting the full view. I was on the phone, otherwise I would have dusted him.

I have had numerous people take off from the stop lights wanting to race.

I have never had a car that has drawn so much attention. The only way I can describe it is that I now know what it's like to have very large breasts with everyone staring at them. I told my wife that if she wants to know what it feels like she should take the car for a spin. (I did actually say that and I have been married for 15 years..set the expectations very low boys and then you might have a chance of exceeding them.)

The only annoying thing that's happened several times is that if I decide to use my turn signal, people will close the gap and not let me in. Especially the BMW driven by guys who think they're cool and by SUV's driven by petite young women.

I've been having a rather unique experience that I quite frankly would rather do without. Drivers in oncoming traffic going the opposite direction gawk at my car and start to veer across the line into my lane, nearly causing a head-on collision! They don't realize that they're doing it, they just momentarily get too absorbed with staring at my car and start drifting. Just yesterday this happened twice within 1 minute. It's a little terrifying, to be honest.

Anatoray 03-22-2009 12:34 AM

I haven't had soemthing like that happen, thank god. Here in Louisville, traffic accidents are pretty numerous, and it's come to the point where I will notice a drive to or from work WITHOUT one, which is sad.

I had a recent unique experience with someone driving a 350Z. He was acting really excited to be in his car, like a kid driving his parents' sports car for the first time, and asked me where I got my mods for my 350 lol. I simply answered with "Nissan" to which he remarked that he didn't know they did car mods. I don't know if I should chalk that up to young innocence, or foolish ignorance. I just chuckled and went along my way.

LMFAO - nice ;) I'll keep that one in the memory bank should I have the opportunity to use it.... ;)

zZSportZz 03-22-2009 08:11 AM

After picking up some detailing supplies at an auto parts store, I was in the parking lot when a guy tells his little girl as they walk by (she was about 5-6) "Oh wow, now look at that...isn't that the car for you" So I walked past them and was about to get it and hes like "the lines on that car are absolutely beautiful" then he proceeded to do the walk around.

Isamu 03-04-2011 06:24 AM

Some little kid came up to me when I was outside washing the Nismo and tugged on my sleeve and said... "where did you get the batmobile"... lol

was pretty awesome..

My wife later told me, it was the second time the kid had looked at my car... he wouldn't touch it, but would do a walk around, and stand on his tip toes to look inside.. she said it was probably what I was like as a young kid

Seasoned Z Enthusiast

I was walking out of a Trader Joe’s, and saw a minivan drive by my car very slowly a few times. As I walked up to my car, the minivan was slowly driving away. I guess he saw me coming up to it and came back again. This guy in his early to mid 50s lowers his window, and asks me if that’s the new Z. After I confirm that it is, he gets out, runs through the list of all the Zs he has owned and tells me about his involvement in cars with a ton of enthusiasm. I welcomed him to take a look at it and then he ran through all of the reasons that he thought it was way better than any of the competition. It's always nice to hear positive things about your car from the people that truly know their cars.

I was tres bored at work...

ImportConvert 03-04-2011 08:37 AM

The first time I drove one it completely changed my mind about the car. I thought 230rwtq would feel slow and lack responsiveness under 4K compared to the V8's I was used to. I was surprised that it felt nothing of the sort, even hitting it from a low roll in first.

I want a Z 03-04-2011 08:38 AM

people hand me $20 bills :)

6MT 03-04-2011 09:24 AM

I have gotten loads of looks and compliments. Thumbs up. I've also won two show & shine events with the Z.

(wouldn't have gotten any of that without the Z)

gbrettin 03-04-2011 09:57 AM

1. A lot of people on the highway slow down to look

2. I wash my car daily (seriously). An attendant at the wash asked me if it was my first car for some reason... I'm 31 and No, it's like my 15th. The only difference is the other 13 cars sucked ***. The reason I say 13 is because one of them was a '72 240z which started my love.

3. A lot of people with cars that are beat up REALLY want to race for some reason. I don't bother. I'm not 16-18 anymore. I just don't care to beat my car up.

rambunctious 03-04-2011 10:06 AM

I had a guy in a truck stare down my car and he then proceeded to lick his lips.. It was a little creepy...

Wow, you're gonna wear the paint away. And, are you married or have a girlfriend? If so, you have a very understanding mate.

zmyride 03-04-2011 10:41 AM

1. A guy in a Prius wanted to race me.

2. I waved to 350Zs, but not one waved me back, so i stopped waving to them. Now they must think i'm a snob in a 370z.

3. I have never seen another 370Z while i'm driving one, but i've seen a lot of Z while i'm driving my DD.

4. people at gas stations stare at my Z. few came and talked to me.

5. 370Z look awesome in motion on the freeway.

6. When we see a Porsche 911, my wife said, "I like your Z's butt better. It's nicer than that car."

ltp 03-04-2011 10:42 AM

I got my 370Z when it just came out January 2009. I was speeding 85mph on 880 highway in Fremont, CA. A highway patrol pulled right next to me from nowhere. I thought I was going to get a ticket but he gave a thump up & a smile instead. Unlike these days, damn cops give us tickets on every little things just to make up their lost revenues instead of fighting crimes.

kenchan 03-04-2011 11:20 AM

my indian neighbor down the street invited himself into my cave while i was working on the Z... looked at my silver 370Z and looked at my silver G35C and said 'why you have the 2 exact same car, why?'

i kicked him out of my garage.

I got a ticket on the way to get my Z, and on the way home... luckily he only got me for a few over lololol

Since Isamu already revived and quoted this old post I'll add to it. Last night I stopped at a subway for a sandwich when one of the employees was taking a smoke break. He commented on how much he liked the car, what year was it and where I got the body kit. I told him it came like that from the factory and I walked inside. He later came in and told his coworker "dude did you check out his 350z it's sweet" I didn't want to sound like a snob so I didn't correct him.

Isamu 03-04-2011 12:10 PM

ohhh!! im the only 370z in Minot, and as far as I can tell the only Nismo in all of ND

Sizzle 03-04-2011 01:02 PM

While travelling through Nova Scotia last summer, I was flying up a hill in a passing lane...when I hit the crest, there was a RCMP cruiser parked facing me on the other side of the hiway. I glanced at my speedo and I was going 100 mph. YIKES!...good thing he had someone already pulled over there. Whew!

Since getting my Z last July, I've only seen two others on the road here in Ontario so far...funny, but awesome to be so exclusive.

My GF (soon to be wife) doesn't really care what I do to my car. We pay for our stuff separate but pay for the stuff we share 50/50. I suppose that's why she doesn't care.

Car washes in Michigan are pretty cheap. I pay 40 dollars for an unlimited package per month. The Carwash is across the street from where I work so it's not out of the way. I just like to keep the road grime and salt off my car.
