If you purposely shift from 3rd to 2nd from redline, you can get the engine to rev well beyond 9k RPM.
I don't condone it... I've accidentally done that once in my 350Z. It wasn't pretty, but it sounded like a sport bike.

So that in the future, people can be forewarned not to buy it from the used car lot (when you eventually trade it in after abusing it for a few years).
