high voltz gauge

hi,

just got my 2010 370z about 3 weeks ago and i noticed that the frist 20 min that my voltz gauge reads 16v and after the 20 min it will stay at 14v.
any one know why?

thanks,enzo

16v seems a little high as a charge voltage, usually starts around 15v and drops to 14v.

How long was your car sitting on the lot before you got it? Might want to put a voltmeter across the battery (with the car shut off) and see what it reads.

i dont know how long it was on the lot,but it must have, maybe all summer.
i will check it out.

thanks

If your battery reads below 12.4V with the car shut off then throw it on a battery charger (some places offer this as a free service). A couple of cars here were so bad that they had to have the dealer replace the battery under warranty.

Mine ranges from around 14.5v to 13.5v... haven't really seen anything other than that.
