GM has their own GPS system which is reminiscent of "Destinator", an old GPS system that was awesome for it's day. But GM hasn't invested any money into a GOOD GPS system that meets today's standards. The one in the Cadis and Vette looks really lame, is slow, and the controls are tacky looking at best. But to make it something that people would want, they option it to only the $45K+ cars. Would it hurt them to spend $200 per car to put in good GPS software? Especially since they pass that cost on to us anyway.
If they'd give all their cars the option like all the other manufacturers, I'd give GM another chance... maybe. I likely wouldn't even get the GPS, but the fact that they're too greedy to put it in any other cars is what turns me away from them. If their business model is based on the idea that they can sell their top-of-the-line cars at top-of-the-line prices with the same features as a Honda Accord, then I feel no matter what I buy with them, I'm getting ripped off. And to me it feels like they only care about the money they made and not making sure the customer is happy. That alone is enough for me not to buy one. Nissan, on the other hand, does things like this too. However, the options they leave out of the non-infiniti cars isn't that big of a deal... Like the rear-view camera. But hey, they offer GPS. And at least if I buy a new Nissan, I feel like I've purchased a car that wasn't the victim of cutting a million corners.
