From MT to AT?
Folks has any of you ever done a transmission conversion of your beloved Z from MT to AT?
For those with inside knowledge on this process, how much would this normally cost and what impact on reliability, if any, does it exposes the car to? Thanks for any/all advice. H.Hanzo |
Spend some money on this: http://www.the370z.com/engine-drivet...d-gearbox.html

I would assume like the NSX it is cheaper to sell yours and buy a 7AT.

Especially on a new car... unless there is some kind of crazy build in the works along with the trans swap, you'd spend way too much money AND lose your drivetrain warranty. Sell it and buy what you want. |
Deff not worth it. Weird most guys wanna go AT-MT
|
its understandable to go at from mt imo. people that i know that would do that are the people that always complain about traffic. i love the traffic. perfect workout.

As light as the clutch is in the Z, there is no excuse to whine about traffic. I inched along in Houston, back when they were doing all that construction, for hours when I drove my H/C/I full bolt-ons 5.0GT with a King Cobra clutch and it didn't bother me a bit.

Yah, just rebuy and rebuy again back to MT....
|
Why? A manual is so much more fun.
|
The OP drives a 40th, which only came in manual. He would be better off selling his and buying a new one but it would not be a 40th.
|
All the traffic in the world would not make me get an AT
|
oh look another thread ruined by a bunch of MT elitist who are here to tell you how much better MT is than AT.....

Anyway, to answer the OP's question: The odds are that no-one has done a conversion. |

It's going to be a lot cheaper for you to just trade your car in on a 7AT than to actually purchase the 7AT + electronics and install.
