I'd put the check towards a GT-R. I'm just waiting till the 2012's come out then I'll pick up an 09 for 50k

I would for sure buy again. After owning 6MT and 7AT both tour/sport the only thing i would bo different i'd get a blk nismo. No wheel upgrade, no bodykit, just shave the nissan emblems tint the windows and Hd and tail lights, space and powder coat blk the wheels. O and a little TT kit.

I like the GT-R's, and would do the same if not for the transmission. I was thinking about doing just this until I read about the long-term test car that one of the mags had. Their only complaint was that the transmission had become slightly balky...but not bad, really not bad.

Something like that. Either way, for the cost of that transmission, ANY! problem is scary. Besides, you can bet you will have no warranty as pretty much everyone is bound to turn VDC off sooner or later.

I really like this car.
In the past 6 months I have gone through 3 cars and 370 is my 4th one and I think I found 'the one'

seriously. With the trans issues, I'm surprised people still want to buy GTRs at all.

While I agree with your point about any issue on the trans is scary, for it will cost you an arm and a leg; however, I do not agree with you suggesting GTR's trans is fragile. I personally know few guys who beat the living crap out of their GTR and they've been very reliable cars.

At the same time, maintenance on GTRs in 4 times the cost of 370s.
This is what turns me off. The maintenance costs and any person waiting for the GTR prices to drop so they can afford one will have a very unpleasant surprise waiting for them. Trans + both diff fluid flush will run you $2000. Brakes $4000 +
Tires $1600 + and these cars eat tires because of their weight.
Oil changes are $135 cheapest.
on and on

So once again, anyone waiting for GTR prices to drop, don't overlook the maintenance costs.

And if something breaks engine component/trans, repairs will be in $10,000s

People just need to learn how to do stuff on their own. All those things are very easy to service with some jack stands and a basic set of tools.

You're absolutely right, but to be honest even if you DIY, just the brake hardware alone will run you $3000+ and thats aftermarket. factory is nearly $9000.

Trans and both Diff fluids will run you $1300.

I know this because I help out my buddies with their GTR all the time.

Call it GTR TAX, everything for that car is 4 times as much as a 370.

It's all good, that's probably why I wanted a flashy car in the first place. XD
