I have heard the Z28's interior will be completely revised. I sure hope so. Either way, I agree with you. 5.0=370Z, they just have trade-offs (5.0=more power, Z=more ergonomic and sophisticated feel).

You're right, the Z06 is in a different price range, but a base C6 really isn't far off from the others. A few K at most.

Man... I went thru the new Camaro vs. 370z debate when buying... from what I recall, this was my conclusion about the "new" Camaros:

Ladies and gentlemen, presenting the all new 2010 Chevy Camaro. . . .living up to its claim to fame of American Muscle*

* 1/3rd made in Mexico, 1/3rd made in Canada and 1/3rd made in America.

370Z and Mustang GT tie, Camaro distant third unless it's a Z28 (which is really a competitor for a GT500 or Vette, not a GT)

Interior design/feel was a big thing for me. I needed to feel like I was in a cockpit or at least feel like I am actually sitting in a sports car.

That was one of the few reasons that drove me away from a Camaro/Mustang.

The other reason was that they were HUGE. I just did not want to feel like I was driving a truck. The only things that were nice from those two cars was the power and a little bit of the looks and that was it for me. But I still think the 370z looks much better, just wish it had more power to play with.

So, if I had to choose all over again. I would still pick the 370z.

5.0 >> Z-28

Plus, there's already a new 5.0 running 8's in the 1/4! The drag racer part of me LOVES that! The old school Hot Rodder in me HATES that it's so easy for the new cars to go so fast.

Does the fact that Aston Martin's DB7 Vantage and V12 Vanquish's manual transmissions came out of Mexico make them unappealing to you, too?

Why does it matter, as long as it works?

I agree 100%. With the mustang, you feel like you sit ON the seat. With the Z/Vette/S2000, etc. (sports cars vs. Muscle cars...) you sit IN the seat. This is part of why I don't "feel" the GT500.

I personally wouldn't take a z06 over a new m6 or gt-r.

I did not join the USMC. However, I lived with a Marine for a while. He had nothing against imports.

Principals...You have no problem paying unconstitutional taxes. Why? You would go to jail/court if you didn't. It's easier to knuckle under. Don't play the "I have principals" card.
History of U.S. Gov’t Bailouts - ProPublica

Do you fly?
Do you use any goods transported by Penn Central Railroad?
Do you have insurance through AIG?
Did you use any of the "stimulus" money "given" to the public?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above--again--don't come at me with "I'm a person of principal" and then knock me or those who decide to buy a GM because they view it as the best choice for them.

Further, no, Ford didn't get the bail-out, but they still whined for money and threatened and made a huge stink about it:
Ford: Bailout-Free But Still Begging | The Truth About Cars

So, once again, I will take the GM product if it suits me better than any other out there. I buy what I think will suite my needs best--especially if I have an investment in it (I am a tax-payer, I am vested in GM).

Also of note, your Uncle was from a different generation with a different mindset. People from my generation are less likely to exhibit brand loyalty and more likely to buy the products that we view as best suited to our needs. It isn't necessarily about integrity, but a different way of thinking.

Further, I think Nissan also participated in the cash for clunker "government stimulus". Good luck finding a "pure" company which has made it on it's own who can say the same for their suppliers as well if they make an item with 100 or more moving parts.
Sorry. As part of your question you asked I am very curious why people say things like what you have said. I provided you an answer for some, as you asked. And you took it personally as a criticism.

I did not realize I knocked you. Where did I not say I would not buy a GM nor should you. I can answer no to all of the above excepting the Penn Central Railroad since I have no idea what it encompasses, but I do benefit indirectly from all the above I am sure.

The base versons of which will cost you another $20K over the base Z06.

However, I agree that they offer similar performance in "nicer" wrappers. $20K nicer? Well, if I could swing it I might be tempted to say so. Since I can't, I disagree

You STRONGLY implied I was not a "principled person".

If you did, then I am surprised because fighting and dying for your believes, or principles, is paramount, to Marines.
Government Motors as opposed to General Motors, since we tax payers bailed out GM & Chrysler. Ford on the other hand has managed their debt and finances far better and did not need federal money.
So I want a Z wants to reward the worthy company. Remember GM refused to pay down debt during the good times. Then held out a hand when things got tough.

Neither... I think the interior on both cars are hideous!!! When I buy a car, the interior and exterior both have to be on par. Before I bought my Z, I was looking at trucks. I narrowed it down to the Tacoma X-Runner and the Frontier. I hated the the steering wheel on the Frontier so I went with the X-Runner!

Sorry, for the miscommunication. Principles can be rational to one and irrational to another, just like joining the Corps. Your original question implied why would some one do something that you see as irrational.
My uncle would not buy a Jap (German,or Itallian) car on principle, as they were the enemy. He only bought GM and International Harvester. I've bought Datsun-Nissans for years. I remember his lecture to me. Your principles, his and mine can all be different, without anyone being unprincipled. My uncle suffered problems with his crummy 1970's and 1980's GM cars on principle , even if it was irrational.

When you mentioned your gyrine roommate didn't have anything against imports, whom would he have considered his enemy anyway? North Korea, Viet Nam, Grenada, Iraq? These places don't export cars.

I still take plenty of heat for not buying American. Again somebody elses principles.

We don't know yet, the car is too new. If the customer satisfaction has been good enough down the line, I will be open to changing my mind. Aston Martin etc., is another league... its like, when Bed Bath & Beyond sells $100 sheets from India, in spite of the outsourcing, they maintain some quality standards. But in $30 sheets imported, there's a little fuzzy-ness, which I will eliminate based on customer opinion once the 2010 Camaro's are old enough and there's evidence they didn't break.. till then, sticking to old school.. Just playing it safe, specially when its the first bunch of huge savings for a 20'somethin
