None of the above. If I were limited to the cars we are discussing as far as price, I would go with a new 'vette.

The Camaro SS is no-faster than my 2001 WS6 was.

The new Mustang has an SRA, and for some reason that grates on me. I want a car with IRS for that price. SRA's work great on tracks and skidpads--no suprise--but real roads have dips and bobbles.

The 370Z is a great car in every way except for the power defecit.

I refuse to give Government Motors any more of my money, so the 5.0

I am trying to understand your outlook here.

Do you feel the 5.0 is a better car?
Do you not want to get SOMETHING back for your money?
Do you feel that you would rather own an inferior car just to make a point?

I am very curious why people say things like what you have said.

It is like me saying "I pay for you to drive your car on the road as I pay state tax. I refuse to buy a car myself, because then I would have to pay state tax on that purchase as well."

On the other hand, seriously another Mustang thread? Should I just change this forum to THEmustangforum.com? :bowrofl:

agree^^ and lolz :icon17:

hmmmm.... only two choices are Camaro or Mustang? I'd be walking I suppose....

ProfessorDave 10-27-2010 07:50 AM

Some people have principals - the whole GM bailout made me sick.
I refuse to buy into that. It personally makes me feel better, could care less what car car anybody else buys

How do you think it's getting something back - there is no discount on the car because you are a US tax payer.

I would not buy any car just to make a point.

your analogy is absurd and makes no sense

Besides, have you ever sat in a camaro, the interior is horrible
even with out the bailout, I would still choose the 5.0, it's nicer in every way

Principled people make principled decisions. My uncle for instance would never buy a Jap car (Mitsubishi number one) on principle. He fought them in the Pacific, they were, and always would be, the enemy. To the unprincipled this will never make sense. I assume by your curiousness, that you never joined the Corps. If you did, then I am surprised because fighting and dying for your believes, or principles, is paramount, to Marines.
Government Motors as opposed to General Motors, since we tax payers bailed out GM & Chrysler. Ford on the other hand has managed their debt and finances far better and did not need federal money.
So I want a Z wants to reward the worthy company. Remember GM refused to pay down debt during the good times. Then held out a hand when things got tough.

m4a1mustang 10-27-2010 09:53 AM

I would buy the 5.0 and take a free Camaro.

GM took $30 billion and "paid in full" $5 billion. I want something for my $25 billion!

No, I don't think the bail-out was an ideal occurance. However...

I paid for part of the bail-out. If I refuse to buy a GM car--I paid for something I did not get. That is how I feel about that.

I don't want a camaro, I want a Z06. Yes, the Camaro is arse inside. Not that the Z06 is so awesome inside, but the Camaro is just...well. You know.

Like I said, 5.0>Camaro. Z06>Anything else new under $100K. Seats can be replaced if you don't like them, and a lot cheaper and without voiding driveline warranties, etc.

I did not join the USMC. However, I lived with a Marine for a while. He had nothing against imports.

Principals...You have no problem paying unconstitutional taxes. Why? You would go to jail/court if you didn't. It's easier to knuckle under. Don't play the "I have principals" card.
http://www.propublica.org/special/government-bailouts

Do you fly?
Do you use any goods transported by Penn Central Railroad?
Do you have insurance through AIG?
Did you use any of the "stimulus" money "given" to the public?

If you answered "yes" to any of the above--again--don't come at me with "I'm a person of principal" and then knock me or those who decide to buy a GM because they view it as the best choice for them.

Further, no, Ford didn't get the bail-out, but they still whined for money and threatened and made a huge stink about it:
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/200...still-begging/

So, once again, I will take the GM product if it suits me better than any other out there. I buy what I think will suite my needs best--especially if I have an investment in it (I am a tax-payer, I am vested in GM).

Also of note, your Uncle was from a different generation with a different mindset. People from my generation are less likely to exhibit brand loyalty and more likely to buy the products that we view as best suited to our needs. It isn't necessarily about integrity, but a different way of thinking.

Further, I think Nissan also participated in the cash for clunker "government stimulus". Good luck finding a "pure" company which has made it on it's own who can say the same for their suppliers as well if they make an item with 100 or more moving parts.

It did make a come back, but then someone rear ended it and it blew up.

I would definitely pick a Z06 over the other two but it's in a completely different price range. In the price range of 30-50K, I would definitely pick the mustang. I love the looks of the camaro but handling and interior are just not up to par. Maybe they will make some drastic changes with the Z28.

You do know that most companies that were bailed out are paying back the money, WITH INTEREST?

in other words, "we" are making money on the bailouts. But continue along with your Tea Party talking points in a car forum :shakes head:

As for me, none of the above....Corvette please!
