You are killing me. You are finding everything wrong with the car that you don't like and failing it. Almost everyone loves t-tops. Are you like 15?

yea, the late 80's 300zx was kind of fugly.
IMO i love the 240z, 280z, 300zx and the 370z. i really like the Z32, but if you look at the lineage of the car its kind of like 'duck, duck, duck, duck, GOOSE, duck, duck' i mean, it was a pretty big, bloated car compared to more compact, fastback Z design's of before and after. however, it was unique, and i personally love the car. it was kind of a random design compared to the others, but it was a beautiful car, and it had some serious power. |

The 94-95TT Z is a great Z. Most are kept really nice. Plus Nissan went to electronic Hicas those year. That gave the car a cleaner engine bay to work with. Only problem you will have with the 94TT is injector failure due to the old pintle style injectors. 95TT also has better head work from the factory. If you have any questions about the cars feel free to call me.

T-tops: Just another thing to leak/lessen structural rigidity/rattle/require $1K in new seals/James Bond into the road at 70mph when your buddy pulls the lever after you forgot to lock it, etc. etc. etc. All for what? Because you didn't pony up and buy the 'vert when you wanted open-air experience? No thankyou. I am a fan of hard-tops and 'verts (although I don't like 'verts, they serve a large market of people who do). |

I love both. The 370Z is a great sports car, redefined, and has great track capabilities.
My 300 is a fun car that is a whole new beast compared to the 370Z. One mistake and there is no computer helping you adjust your line. Kiss your a** good bye. They are both great cars, hard to compare the two...they are just unique in their own ways. I enjoy both. I find myself getting more compliments in the 300 though. |

I won't get into the debate about what is better. Honestly, like Lou says, they are apples and oranges and I love them both. I would have a difficult time loosing either to keep the other.
Here is what I can tell you... after getting into the TT after a couple of weeks of driving the 370, I thought "Man, forgot how f'ing fast this car really is!" Keep in mind that I have quite a bit of work in mine though. How much work you put into it is really going to depend on how it's been cared for. With the age, electrical connections are always and issue. I installed an new main harness when I did my upgrades. As stated above, stock injectors are an issue and the ethanol is not helping. I will be changing an injector on our 91 2+2 NA in the next week or two because one failed. My best advise to anyone about a TT... if you can't do the majority of the work and mods yourself, it's gonna be very expensive. If you aren't willing or capable of jumping into a timing belt job, it's not for you.

I don't get the 2004.5 joke.. Anyone care to fill me in?
Anyway, I hate to be rude but Nizmoz you are coming off VERY annoying.. I like how you find the top of the line, modded, cleanest, best looking 300zx out there to show off when the majority of Z32's are Non turbo, ugly exotic car wannabe looking cars that are run down ghetto POS.. I mean look at that front end, it looks like its got down syndrome (No offense to anyone). The car only looks cool as a whole, if you look at it from each angle alone its freaking ugly. Its was a nice car when I was 14. By the way, T-Tops are pretty retarded and very redneck IMO.. My brother had it in his 98 firebird and it was just... GAY. A targa would have been damn sexy. The "epic" Z32 is stuck in the middle.. No mans land.. It will never be a supra/skyline, ever so it gets compared to cars of lesser value and performance. Please don't get me wrong, it was pretty sweet for its time. TT is sick for sure, but its ooold and dated.. Things change for the better. Nissan's NA motor makes more power than the TT motor.. If nissan made the 370z a TT it would cream the 300zx. |

Yes, if the seals start to go and you don't replace them you'll get rattles and ultimately get leaks (both of which can happen with a targa top too, BTW), but properly designed and maintained t-tops work just fine, are easier to store, and cars with them usually have extra body stiffness (less body flex) without having to design in extra support in the rear area of the car. Wow talking about annoying. You are the one that came off like that and not me. One, that is my friends car as I have pictures of it handy. Two, it looks great and guess what, it wins trophy's all the time. ALL THE TIME. And saying it's getting old? If it was, why do so many here love that body style?
T-Tops and Targa are the same freakin thing. One with a beam in the middle for extra support vs not having one like the Supra which had a lot of body flex. And sorry to say, the TT isn't really slower. One mod, and it will whoop a 370z without a problem. Now back to a civilized conversation...... Quote:

Answering your questions...I'll do my best

For troubles- you might have problems w/ injectors dying if you let your car sit, but you can also just replace them for a $500 w/ the 1995 version. Just try to find one that was garaged and well taken care of... like mine. LOL Good luck, either way you'll have a nice Z. Last edited by ThunderZ34; 10-27-2010 at 10:27 PM. |
