I'm in love now!!
Drove the 370 yesterday. I am gonna wait to see how the roadster looks b4 purchasing... The car is awesome!! Kinda reminds me of an NSX in terms of the experience. The car is relatively tame when in top gear on the highway, but when you step on it the car turns into a raving lunatic. The seats are extreemly comfortable and the gearshift is perfectly placed with short throws. I drove the base, there were no sport pkg manuals at the dealership...in fact there were about 8 cars and only one manual, go figure. Just stomping the gas caused the standard tires to slip (traction control blinked)..too much power for those tires? I formerly owned an RX-8 and loved it for the handling and comfort compared to the previous Z, the interior was also much nicer. I am glad that nissan finally put a nice interior in the Z. Cant wait to see the roadster!!!

I have noticed that TCS does activate rather easily, although I don't really feel that the car is at risk of spinning out of control when it does. The slightest shift to the side seems to make it go on.
I am with you on the interior. I didn't like the 350's interior all that much, and found it a bit uncomfortable. |

Great . . .
kantonm,
Great write up. I test drove a base model about 2 weeks ago. I too was impressed. Although I am a Nissan man (or boy), I really loved how the interior was over the 350z. The car drove great also. I have been driving Datsun and Nissan since I was 18 years old. Bought my first Datsun when I was 18 years old in high school. This was back in 1980 (senior year). It was a 1980 Datsun 210. 1980 Datsun 210 new 1987 Nissan Sentra Hatchback new 1993 Nissan Sentra SE 2 door new 1994 Nissan Maxima used 1997 Nissan Sentra GXE 4 door used 2003 Nissan Sentra GXE 4 door used I am really looking to buy a new 370Z. I love it. Great job Nissan. Tom |

Did you get a chance to "test" the base brakes? Also, did it seem like there was a lot of tire or road noise with the base tires? Some reviews have noted a lot of road and tire noise on the sport model, but I wonder if the smaller base tires may be less noisy.

I have the base model. The tires are loud as hell.

didnt test the brakes, It didnt seem to be any louder than other sports cars that Ive had... I drove on rough city streets and on the freeway with the radio off and It did not seem excessively loud... C & D shows that the interior noise with the sport pkg is the same or lower than the RX8 which i owned for three years and I never felt that it was loud. I also never drive without the music, usually relatively loud! I now drive a TL with a very similar tire setup as the sport package z (245/35/19 and 275/30/19) and when i went back to my car it didnt seem considerably quieter.. I think that it seems louder because of the hatchback, as opposed to a trunk that is more isolated?!.. just my impression, maybe its more noticeable when the new car excitement wears off.
