I was cleaning some stuff out of closets this weekend and found a couple of fleece blankets / throws (Walmart, like $15). Wrapped one around the outside of the tire & stuffed one under the sub inside the spare. Made a pretty decent difference. I think both were Queen size. Between that and my new Indy 500 tires, I can actually have a conversation in the car now.

So based on your findings, I can conclude that a couple king sized fleece blankets would be even better? Haha, but all seriousness aside, Harbour Freight has large heavy quilted movers blankets for less than $10 that may work well too. And I've mentioned before that the Continental Xtreme Contact tires I put on my Z really did cut down the road noise.
