Normally in say, my Murano, I can't really hear the water noise. It's up to my sight to see how much water is actually on the road, and to drive accordingly depending on my speed and the conditions. Being a Murano with all season triple tread Goodyears, I don't really drive it sportingly, so the only thing I usually need to worry about is highway hydroplaning. The triple treads get good traction in just about every condition, so no worries.
In the Z, you sort of get used to driving it harder, especially in turns etc. The Z also comes with summer only tires, that from what I've read aren't exactly great for anything other than dry pavement. I'm sure it's very easy to get this car loose on wet roads (something I haven't tried yet myself). So the good news for the noise is, you can actually HEAR how much water you are driving in. You don't simply have to rely on sight; your ears can tell you if it's just a light spray, or if there is a lot of water on the road surface. The more water noise there is, the more conscious I am about not gunning the gas or taking corners fast. I guess everyone else doesn't have to be this way, but I think it's sort of a built in safety thing for your car, and maybe you. Does this make sense?

it's Amplified Motorsports which is a sponsor here and also referred by a lot of local members. I think he said it would take around 1.5 hours. Maybe they really have their system and technique down.

There is NO WAY 1 person can do it all that fast and do a good, complete job. It's an all day job if you take your time and do it right. Now for the experienced installer, it won't take THAT long, but 1.5 hours; no way. Maybe 4 hours. Does the kit you bought come with 9 sheets of 18 x 36 or something like that? If they do the complete rear, and do all the areas where the tinging plinking noise comes from, just the trunk area will take all 9 sheets. I had 10 sheets at about 18 x 40, and I had 1 sheet left over that I used to double up on the wheel wells. But again, I did the entire trunk, wheel wells, and back wall too.

yeah, it's the one bulk pack. he said it would be enough unless we were doing like an audio install or something than you would need more. Well, I guess I'll see. Now you have me wondering if I should get the door kit also for some extra mat and ask them to use it all up.

Dynamat installing now. So the reason I got such a good deal is because it is a packaged price since I am getting swift springs from them installed also. Regular install labor proce is around 300.

Its really a shame that Nissan lets the problem go..I notice even the new Zs are getting the same review from professional reviewers..its too noisy! I really think its to help differentiate it from the Infinity brand or to let them brag that the new Z weighs less than the old... |

He was way off on the estimate. He said 4 hours or less for dynamat and springs. The dynamat alone took 4 hours, maybe a bit more. So i guess I really got my money's worth in terms of labor.

No, he didn't charge me more. I took some pics in process and it looks like he was covering the natch and doors pretty decently. Used a heat gun too.

He actually undercharged me by a bit. I picked up some post MAFs that I brought along to install as well since I was having all that other stuff done. He was going to charge me $20 for that, but forgot it at the end. So the final tally
Swift springs - $290 spring install - $130 Dynamat install - $140 post MAF install - $0 total - $560 I think it was a pretty good deal overall.
