Yeah, I had Tony do the radio surround trim piece custom, with the CF pattern at 45 degrees and matte finish. I haven't gotten it all back together yet, but here's some pics of the part by itself. 2 without and 2 with flash on.

That's alright. I have my own car now. Yours got me through the hard times of waiting. Almost brings a tear to me eye.

Further update on tires ..after driving around for a while I do notice a quieter cabin..not a whole lot different but somewhat ..and combined with the sound dampening in the hatch and doors, the car sounds perfect ..for me anyway.. sports car sounds without too much noise..of course if you play in a band..and are slightly deaf as a result ..maybe it might be too quiet for you!!

Yesterday I drove from Dallas to San Antonio. This gave me a chance to really hear how well the Dynamat worked. The road debris noise from the rear wheelwells is all but forgotten now. You can hear some of the larger objects hit, but even that is muffled out pretty well. I am running Berk HFC's and ARK Performance CBE. Before the Dynamat install, the drone from the exhaust driving in traffic at 50-60 mph was almost unbareable. Not much changed with the obnoxious noise between 50-60 on-off acceleration. Perhaps this is the HFC's. Tire noise with the stock Bridgestones wasn't too bad. I think that some of that could be reduced by using Dynamat in the doors. It doesn't bother me enough to do it unless I have to get into the door panels for something else first. All and all the drive was enjoyable with the exception of driving through Austin traffic and wishing my right leg was 6 inches shorter after 200 miles of driving. I will be removing my Berk HFC's and installing F.I. LTH's when I return home. I hope that takes care of the city traffic 50-60 mph exhaust drone.

Hey, that looks nice. I bought that CF clear reflective set he had and installed it, then sent him my triple gauge and tach hoods to be covered too. Now that I see your audio and climate control surround, I may have to pull that and have it done too. Need to wait until I decide if I want to change out HU first though.

I know what your saying about the ARK drone. Did the dynamat but it did little to quiet the drone. Put a few hundred miles on it and it got a little better. As much as I hated to add more weight, I got a 12 sq ft piece of dynapad and put it under the carpet.

Wow, big difference. Just traced the carpet on the dynapad and cut it to fit, one piece, about 10 lbs. The quality of ride and sound is tons better and can now hear the exhaust and not the drone.

Glad to hear.!.but I think the real big difference is in dynamating the doors, as well!!! Its just so much more enjoyable on long drives...

Thats next on the list. Almost have enough left over to do it. Probably need another piece to do the doors, that is where I hear most of the road noise now. Just want to make long drives even more enjoyable.!

It won't help the ARK drone though, just road noise. One of the reasons I traded in my E92 M3 was because it was too quiet and did not sound like a sports car. Their are annoying noises and sounds of the open road. I guess it all depends on individual taste of how you want YOUR driving experience to be.

You mean you put the dynapad under the carpet in the hatch area? I"m thinking about doing the same thing but wasn't sure if you meant the hatch area or some other area?

Thanks

Anyone tried putting dynamat on the underside of the corrugated plastic cover (along with doing the actual hatch). Wonder if that would help as well?

Sarcasm coming.......

That corrugated plastic has a name, it's called coroplast.

Sorry, I had to be a smart arse. It's not very often I can use terms I work with on a car forum.

Coroplast - Manufacturer of Corrugated Plastic Sheets

I'm not sure you idea would help or not. It was my understanding that it's the actual bonding with the metal of the car that creates the sound absorption. But on this one I could be totally wrong.
