Default CTS V Coupe vs 370Z

Thought you might find this fun. I've got a friend who owns a Cadillac dealership so i talked him into a test drive of the 2011 CTS V coupe with the
556 hp v8. I'm not going to waste your time and rave on about the CTS.
Who's sticker was north of 50 grand. Yes it is well built, road noise so quiet
you could hear a pin drop, and had a ride so smooth you couldn't spill your
coffee if you tried to.anyway here's my point. I know it's faster from 0-60 but it
damn sure didn't fill like it and the exhaust note sucked. And the 370 7AT
hands down imho is a whole lot better slush box. You know how a car feels
quicker and is more in tune with the road. to me that was what i took away from the test drive. . and no i'm not saying the 370 is a better car.......long story short we drive our cars everyday and sometimes take them for granted...for me not anymore....sorry to ramble.....

Prob cus the cts-v is heavy & our cars are so light. Thanks for the little review tho, I'd like to test out one of the cts-v's one day if I'm lucky.

The CTS-V is around 4200# and is a low 12-second car that does 0-60 in around 4.1-4.3 seconds depending on the magazine you read. It also lapped the 'ring at a pretty nice hustle--something you won't ever see the 370Z do.

However, it's a luxury car first and a performance vehicle second.

As fast as the CTS V is, it wasnt meant to feel like a sports car but a lux car that is fast. Hence the not so sporty ride feel. You actually get the best of both with this car, speed and a fine ride, but you dont get that sports car feel.

People go too much by feel. Line up against a CTS-V and you will definitely be hanging your head if the outcome of the race has an impact on how you "feel". However, your Z FEELS pretty good.

That's good, but to judge the car's ability on "feel" just doesn't pan out as you can see by the CTS-V's low 12-second timeslips vs. the 370's low 13 second timeslips, nearly identical slalom speed (69.2 vs. 69.8), nearly identical 60-0 distance (101 vs. 104 feet), and the only area it clearly "wins" at is the skidpad (.89 vs .97), but without the slalom to back it up, what good is that except on the most extreme sweeping turn? GM just knows hot to deliver power smoothly, remember the "That Z06 felt slower than my 370" thread? Lol

Here is a REAL comparison based on fact and not feel:

Same company/track, sorry I couldn't get it on the same day, though.

sorry to get off point i really didn't mean to make it a post about feel.

it was meant to be about how much car the z is for the money...
and with GM an extra 15 grand doesn't get you as much as you think..

i guess when i was driving it i was expecting a better experince...
when i kicked the cts in the butt i didn't go oh xxit....

but to each there on...

Sounds like you just figured out where your money went. When you can kick a low 12-second 0-60 in the high 3, low 4-second range car in the butt and not go "oh xxit", then I would say it was money well-spent. Great tuning on GM's part!

Also, yes, the Z is very nice for the money. I am impressed how far Nissan got and how far Porsche Didn't (Cayman) for the money involved.

You are getting alot for that 15K that you just prolly dont realize. You think a soft ride like that is cheap? and the quality of other parts add up and yes you pay for the name too, but believe me the caddy has alot more than the eye can see.

As I have said before the best bang for the buck depends on your income, trust me there are better feeling and faster cars out there than the Z and cost less. Right now the stang might be a better bang for the buck than the Z, other than its ugly IMO.

i'm by no means a cadillac fan. i don't like them at all. but i think that extra 15 grand is really just spent on luxury and quality, and not much name. yes, cadillacs are a luxury car, but i think when you spend 15k extra on a cadillac, it gets you more car than name, which i think cannot be said for our german friends.

Yeap, but with a freaking modified Corvette engine in it, if I'm not mistaking.
That car is freaking fast! Period.
