I would force the kid to work for his college tuition. Dumping your money into your kids college tuition is not a good idea in my book.

If you dump it in a car, at least you can enjoy it. At the same time your kid learns to take in more responsibility and also take that extra leap into adult life.

If you are financially stable then get it.. She needs to love you for who you are. Cars are a big part of you as we can all tell and you want one so you satisfy yourself too.

You only live 1 life. Don't let other people live it for you.

The day I bought my 300ZX tt and came home, my gal was disappointed I didn't consult nor mention I was in the market for a new sports car, or even ask her to come along. I was a little surprised too, since she's never going to drive it. With the 370 I asked her to come along, as per her request 14 years earlier. I still had a rental and I needed her take it back to Hertz. So it was a win, win. Moral of the story, grow a set. Buy your car.

Easier to ask forgiveness than permission. Besides, who's gonna be paying for the thing, anyway?

Marriage is a business transaction and partnership. You should be congratulated being with her for that long.

With all due respect to everyone here, no one is qualified to give you advice---this means that only you and you alone can decide what is best for you and for the marriage.

I wish you luck in your decision making.

Now on a funny note, don't forget "it is cheaper to keep her than to get rid of her"

I now have a 2004 BMW 3 Series coupe. I have a check, however my wife wants me to wait a month to get the car out of my system. A BMW sedan is just a sedan.

I want the car now. I've been looking at used 911's, Caymans, used Corvettes, then I came across t Z.

Do I wait the month or risk 26 years of marriage?

Do you think she is willing to leave you after 26 years of marriage just for one single automobile. If so then ???? Dont ask us.

Just discuss it with her openly.

When I bought the 370, I just arrived at home with it and politely pointed out to her that I have a new car

After reading all the replies I now know why the divorce rate in the US is sooo high!:bowrofl::roflpuke2:

To the OP, this is a decision best settled between you and the wife.

I say wait, but try to bring it up with her often and highlight the positives of the vehicle. She may cave. If not, then in a month if it's still "in yo system", go buy yourself a Z!

i woudln't worry too much about being able to get that particular car. its very easy to get caught up in the 'OMG i MUST get this car right now because if not they will sell it and i'll never find as good of a deal!' if you were dead set on a very specific trim/color/options i'd say you should jump on it, but base black 6speed, i imagine, is not terribly hard to find. you never know, maybe if you're patient enough and show her that you actually value her opinion, she'll tell you that you should spring for the sports package or something.

all i know is that your car isn't going to bust your balls for god knows how long if you make a decision without consulting it.
