Dings? I don't have any!

46k miles and no dings/scratches. I think people are scared to park near it but I do park far away from everyone. I'm still knocking on wood though...

I too keep my car spotless inside and out. And park far away or am the guy that takes 2 spots and yes Clemsonwill it will make the wife mad. But I respect what I work hard for so get over it.

Default dings and parking

This is an important subject that many are clueless. The general population seems to have the herd mentality. That is just park somewhere not closest but somewhere in the mid range and normally people will park right next to you even though more spots are available even closer to a store/mall.. Same on the highway with tailgating and clumping together. When I take the Z out I too park far away but that still doesnt stop these herds from parking next to me. Its odd. People are odd. My woman friend, I wont say girlfriend, hates it when I park far away but she knows i will not waiver. Funny, when I first got the car she saidI just wanted to pick up 20 year olds. I simply replied that it was just an added benefit of the Z. HEY, HEY. Ps , I have a dent guy along with a paint guy where i met at the Nissan dealer doing touchups, just in case.

Default Another parking far away story

My previous car, a black g6 coupe, i treated also with gloves as i do all my cars. First week i/we went to an Applebees . I parked at the farthest spot in a corner near some landscaping shrubs. Looking out at my car thru the Applebees window while waiying for the menu i noticed that a car parked right next to me. Couldn't tell how close since i was so far away. Three old ladies got out and two of them all used my car as handrails from the middle of the car to the front as they emerged from their car. Ironically they sat right next to us at Applebees. They had no clue what they did but I tell ya, I wanted to smackem. Rich

She's on her second Z, I believe. Not a bad strategy - get a ding, trade it in for a newer Z!

Well, being somewhat anal-retentive, I scour the lot for just the right spot. The best spots (IMO) are the completely on the end farthesst from the doors the public uses. If the lot has been marked with slashed lines at the ends of the parking spots, parking with the left or right side about a foot over them usually leaves a good 4+ feet on the side where another car can park. These are the best.

Some places have curbs instead. Then I search around looking for one that had a mistake when painting (or measurements didn't allow enough room for one more spot so the last one is bigger).

I never park diagonally over two spots. That makes you an butthole even though it's unlikely anyone will ever want to use one of them way out in the middle of no where. I would also say it invites someone to intentionally do something to your car BECAUSE you took up two spots as if you're special or something.

At work, our of about 8,000 spots in our covered parking garage, there is ONE (and only ONE) spot between two concrete walls. Any person authorized to park in there can spend an extra $25 per month to have a spot reserved. So, I pay that amount and make sure no one can park next to me.

And to finish, whenEVER I return home having the car out, I go over the front end and mirrors looking for bug stains that I remove with quick detailer as soon as possible. I also have a plastic baggie with a small spritzer bottle and two microfibers in the trunk that I use if I need to while out on a trip.

When I traded my 06 RSX in, the manager came over to me and said he had to tell me that was the cleanest/nicest car he had ever taken in trade.

I keep a lint roll behind the passenger seat.

I just like my car looking best she can all the time.

I park at the Die Hard's Nakatome Bldg. The stalls are still pretty wide and plenty of empty spaces far from the escalators.

I dont even want to know how much per month we pay for parking, though I would be willing to fork out $25/mo extra if I could have a space like yours.

Wow, that's dedicated. I'm the same way, but usually get crazy looks when I say anything about it. I traded an '05 RSX for the Z

Apparently, it's not too uncommon. There are at least two more in here that went RSX --> Z.
