If you search 'oil cooler' and look in the DIY, you'll see many other options too.

"Any oil-cooler added after the car leaves the factory will void the warranty on a Nissan vehicle"--my local dealership.

Not the dealership's fault. All Nissan.

They meant warranty affecting the engine.

Not true, there are plenty of dealerships who have installed oil coolers and kept all the warranty.

They can say what they want, but when they call Nissan to authorize the free installation of a free motor to a customer because a rock hit the cooler or a fitting leaked and the engine ran dry, it's a whole 'nother ball game.

That would be a mighty rock indeed. I think it all comes down to the individual. You pays your money and you takes yer chances. I personally don't track my car so I don't see the need for an oil cooler and I'm no saint on the road neither.

PapoZalsa 10-17-2010 10:06 PM

I would get one installed if it wasn't for the void of the powertrain warranty.

But I hope that next yr the engine blows, since is already on the oil consumption problem list too.

Mozen 10-18-2010 08:15 AM

Yea i look at it this way...what are the chances a rock or something else is going to dmg the oil cooler i have in now....almost 0. Id be more likely to get in an accident i think and then hey, insurance takes over anyways.

That said im paranoid about fluid levels. I work on the AH-64D Apache and we are always checking over engines, hydraulics, and gearboxes to make sure everything is filled to where it is supposed to be. So i just take that level of care, and do the same with my car. On average i check fluid levels 3 times a week and im always looking under the car and in the engine bay to make sure i dont have anything going wrong. Now is that a little excessive? Probably.... but it takes less than 5 min to go over the car and check it which is well worth that piece of mind.

Anyways im off the box (insert "cool story bro" here)

Check my sig for a DIY on a NISMO.

I'd worry more about metal eating beavers attacking the oil lines instead of the cooler itself.

Can I assume Baker is one?

theDreamer 10-18-2010 01:25 PM

Yes, Baker will install an oil cooler.

budz 10-18-2010 01:30 PM

you can buy the hks oil cooler mounted inside the driver side fender for your peace of mind regarding rocks.
