I know I had asked for mine but the dealer prep people threw it away. To get the day of production (not just the month an year) I went to the service counter and asked if they could find it for me, all they needed was the Vin number and they printed off a sheet in 2 minutes. I'm curious if the production day is the day they started or finished the car completly.
Excellent. Thanks foir the straight answer.

Visited my dealership yesterday. Had them look up my Z's birthday. June 11, 2009. This is consistent with the month/year label on the door jam and obviously correct. It was also noted that my Z didn't arrive at my dealership until mid-August and then not sold to me until November. It occurred to me that by the time Nissan delivered my car to me, the motor oil was already more than 5 months old. So much for those manufacturer recommendations that the oil be changed at 3 month intervals.

???...You're not seriously suggesting that Nissan should have changed your oil before delivery are you??? It's not like milk...It doesn't go bad sitting around.

The 3 month suggestion assumes normal usage of 15K a year which would be changing the oil every 3750 Miles of use.

Exactly, how long does oil sit in a bottle after its refined. I don't see a experation date on a bottle of oil.

It may be thought that Nissan assumes a typical usage of 3750 miles over 3 months, but I don't recall that being stated. My recollection was 3750 or 3 months, whichever first occurs and my oil would have been almost 6 months old at delivery. Maybe I'm remembering the paragraph incorrectly but that's my recollection of how it is written and my reasonable interpretation of it. If I am wrong, I stand corrected.

40ths don't get a special VIN...It's just another option/trim package built in the normal production schedule..

Beat me to it. It was the 2383rd 370Z to roll off the line for model year 2010.

Three days ago I had confirmation my 40th was "At Sea" heading to Canada,so newest might be an exaggeration .I also know that mine was built after March 10th,the Nissan rep told my dealer "it wasn't on the ground yet" so I know about a 15 day window when my 40th was built ,be interesting to see the last 4 digits

I'm wondering how it will be determined who got the 1st,370th and 1000th , 40th anniversary North American models, the 3 cars I think that maybe special.

I would be curious to see what numbers (i.e. 370 of 1000 or 1 of 1500) the 40th and Nismo Zs have in relation to their VIN. My inbound 40th is 501843 but I have no idea what # she is of 1000.
