I would prefer just lights to flash and no beep. Can the beep be de-activated? (Yeah, I know---"look it up in the Owner's Manual..."

IIRC hold both buttons on the fob until the lights flash.

There are two buttons. The wide one opens the hatch. There is a small, round button to the left of the hatch button that locks/unlock doors and gas lid.

Lock your car. Push the gas door and hit the unlock. The gas door will then pop open.

even though that does work and it's kinda cool. when you get out to put gas in your car the car is unlocked already and so is the gas lid.

i must be missing something because i don't see the point in that.

You are lucky old folks stick together, and my arms are still long enough to read and look this up for you.

Switching procedure:
To switch the hazard indicator and horn (chime)
operation, push the LOCK *1 and UN-
LOCK *2 buttons on the Intelligent Key
simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.
. When the hazard indicator mode is set, the
hazard indicator flashes 3 times.
. When the hazard indicator and horn mode is
set, the hazard indicator flashes once and
the horn chirps once.
