How are people reacting...

I'm just your average if there is such a thing Z lover.:icon18: I have always loved the Z every since those black 300 ZX commercials that came on Monday night football where I was more excited about them then the game. I have had a used 300 twin turbo and was blessed to be able to purchase a new 09 red 370 which I love. I'm have worked hard to get it and wish I could do many of the mods that I seen some of the member here are doing but right now I do what I can do... I try very hard to take good care of it...
My question is how are people on the street reacting to the car. I notice that some people seem to be bothered by the car. I mean I'm driving on the interstate and I may pass a mini van. The next thing I know...they are going by me. The same in regular traffic...its like they are saying, "I bet that guy thinks he is all that in that 370Z..how dare he pass me!":shakes head: It seems to happen alot. And I have not even said anything about the kids who always want to race.... I have read that many people say they get a lot of positive attention and looks. I get some but I the other as well.... There are not many 370Z in my area....
Are you getting those kind of reactions on the road?:ugh2:

Red__Zed 10-14-2010 06:39 PM

Yes. I think the fact that yours is red amplifies it, too.

kenchan 10-14-2010 06:43 PM

I get that sometimes from middle aged bald guys driving minivans.

Its quite sad that he chose his way of life and not happy with it.

memorylasts 10-14-2010 06:51 PM

I get people stopping and talking to me all the time since iver owned the car...when i had my Audi, people just went in the opposite direction, the Z is a car that goes back in time, and this Z is very similar to the 240's of yesteryear just as beautiful. on my road there are a couple Datsun's and whatnot mostly owned by a crowd in there late 30's - 50's and that is mostly the general range of people that i have walk up to me. They all ask for rides too...but thats not going to happen at least until i know them well enough to be comfortable...

tjlazer 10-14-2010 07:00 PM

I get big arse lifted trucks wanting to race me all the time. It's funny. I usualy get stares and they look at my front wheels when is stop and go traffic.

In this world - you are almost born into your fortune. So dont say its sad he chose his way of life - maybe he was forced into it!

zmyride 10-14-2010 07:28 PM

Yup i get it all the time.

I usually look on driver's side mirror and know that the car behind me is checking out my Z. I slow down and let them pass but I don't turn my head to look at them, but I know that they're checking me out.

But somehow i know when a chick is checking out my Z. I turn my head suddenly, make eye contact with her, and smile. She gets caught off-guard and is like doesn't know what to do.

I do get a lot of punk-azz mustangs and civics that try to engage me in a race. They always rev their engine at the red lights. i don't know why, maybe they're jealous.

daisuke149 10-14-2010 07:58 PM

had a maybe mid 30's baldin asian guy with in a new 911 just stare me down as we slooooowwwwly passed each other (going opposite ways) in bumper bumper traffic. I mean from when he saw me to when we passed was prolly 45 seconds.. and he didnt look away once.. .. i dunno what peoples problems is..

Mozen 10-15-2010 04:25 AM

My problem is the punks trying to street-race. My car has a ton in suspension and handling mods. So the kid who pulls up in moms SUV to which he has hooked a nitrous system to and then starts to talk crap...grrr

Anyways most people seem to enjoy the car and i have tons of people coming up to me and asking me about it. 99% of what i see / hear is positive.

Forrest 10-15-2010 04:39 AM

I had a fat bald and what appeared to be short white guy in a white trans am tail gating me HOPING i would do something. I was just looking to drive to work not cause a accident or go to jail haha.

GZ3 10-15-2010 09:16 AM

ehhhh whhhooooo cares! It does happen, but if you really wanted to they couldnt catch you anyways...most of my reactions have been positive...except a couple of big texas trucks guys who think they own the road...suprisingly enough a guy in a REAL truck gave me thumbs up (the new Ford Raptor) that truck is awesome

Kinda related.....

Our Daily driver is a Nissan Cube.. The Z is a weekend/fun car for me..

I've noticed driving on the highway if I come up on someone going slow in the left lane, if I'm driving the Z, 9 times out of 10, they will move over for me.. like they know its a sports car and seem to respect that I am going to pass them either way..

But if I'm driving the Cube, fk that.. I couldn't get someone to move over if my life depended on it.. And I'm not one of those tail-gating, lights flashing ******** either. Just a slight move over to the left shoulder to give them a hint that I'm back there..

Just started noticing that and its pretty funny..

/cool story bro..

m4a1mustang 10-15-2010 02:02 PM

It's the fangs. They think the Z will bite. :)

shoopajae10 10-15-2010 02:12 PM

I had this really cute asian chick in a white camery drool over me as i passed by. wink wink.

dszombiex 10-15-2010 05:49 PM

Noone really notices/cares about this car in Los Angeles.

wishihadnav 10-15-2010 06:03 PM

Jamaica 10-15-2010 06:04 PM

They really don't know what kind of car we have in Columbia, South Cackalacky (SC). We have been called out for driving a porsche as well (Not into volkswagens on steroids.) Heck, we had two people here think our old sweet aztec red z32 tt was a ferrari. So, we might as well act like we are balling here. A dollar LOOKS like it goes a long way here. :icon14:

Slynky 10-15-2010 08:24 PM

The night I was driving home after the purchase, a Mustang pulled along side me on the I'state and slowed down to parallel me. Then speeded up and slowed down again to drop back beside me. That's the only time anyone has ever acted that way and the car is almost 9 months old now.

I am, however, up to about 15 "Dude ! COOL CAR!" comments now and even one person in the parking lot photographing it. Three of those have been females at red lights that pull up beside me raving about the car. Of course, then they see I'm an old fart...:roflpuke2:

How old is an old fart? Some think 40 is pretty old. Now, if you are talking 70, then yeah, that is pretty old. :inoutroflpuke:

Maybe tint your windows pretty dark. It may be worth the money for all the enjoyment you will get out of it.

The bad habit that us asians have is staring. We just tend to stare without knowing. lol.

BTW Mexican ricers like the cars and try to race it with their fart cannons and c-130 spoilers. I look at them like some idiot. I don't care if they're reving or not, its stupid as hell.

I agree, even though I am tempted, and my wife tells me, “Don’t you dare,” which makes me wanna do it even more, I let them go do their thing while I know what I can do. Just getting the satisfaction of letting them speed off while I don’t even bother is fun. Then, in the back of my mind I am hoping there is a po-po somewhere watching. If a mustang does that or another reputable car, I have a very hard time with the temptation. My wife doesn’t really know what cars temps me, she just assumes all of them do. I need a challenge.

I can’t wait until we get our light system going on our targa. I know this is going to happen. Night time, secondary road, maybe late at night, I’m going to get a car that will show off and pass me going way over the speed limit. I’ll count to 10 and turn on the blue strobes and scare the poo out of them. Yes, I know it is illegal, but so would be racing. The lights are less dangerous of the two. :stirthepot:

When people pass me back I kinda think that they just want to take a second look. Not alot around my area too. There cool looking cars for the matter and im always up for the kids wanting to race!!

ThoriumHotdog 10-16-2010 02:18 AM

Lacking a 370 of my own I can only tell you guys what I thought when I saw my first Nismo. My jaw literally dropped. It was probably the first 370z I had seen up close. It was sitting all pretty in a parking garage and I stood there drooling for a few minutes. The car is stunning in person and I had to walk around it for a bit. It's really what brought me here and what made me decide to get a Z.. eventually. :)

Rojo 370 10-16-2010 11:45 AM

I see the same thing here and you're right, the red color accentuates the reaction. I had some goofball in an old escort, yes escort, with a welded on hood scoop try to do me at a stoplight. He looked over, I smiled and watched him pull away, a thick cloud of smoke pouring out of his exhaust. I slowed down to avoid having unburnt oil from his exhaust getting on my paint. I'm sure he felt great about smoking out a Z!!

I'm 59...

I have tinted my windows but when the girls roll down their window to talk, I figure it's only good manners to reciprocate. And, besides, I ride with the windows down most of the time anyway (so I can hear that sweet Fast Intentions sound).

LMAO !

Not single (but married to a girl 15 years younger than me ;) )

Now, when they ask you, are you in your Z or are you just bragging in general? You can tell us the truth. We are big boys. If you are on one of your Hogs or in your vet, it's ok. But when you are in your Z, do you notice anything different? Anything?

So you are saying that being married to a "girl" that is fifteen years younger than you is sortof like being single? I can truly see your logic. Man, fifteen years for me would be a 22 yr old girl. Um, yeah, I would be running around as much as a single guy, that's for sure. I don't think I could keep up for long. :)
