First STS rear mount turbo 370Z???

Just got home from dropping my car off at Uprev in Austin and they had this beast on their dyno. Im pretty sure this is the first rear mount turbo 370Z.. correct me if im wrong. I remember seeing a thread discussing someone making a custom kit or something. As far as how much power it's making.. ill just say right now it's between 400 - 500whp and they are still tuning. Enjoy!

Nice setup. Doesn't it take longer to hit the targeted PSI with all those piping?

You also posted in the wrong section i think.

Raven 10-13-2010 11:35 AM

im pretty sure jnaut was building his own.

vipor 10-13-2010 11:41 AM

Uhm. I expect this thread to be closed very soon. Sponsor-related.

Cell 10-13-2010 11:45 AM

Taking a second look at it, I do not like how the pipes stick down so much.

pipes are wayyyy to low, i hope they drive carefully

Thanks for posting. I think it's definitely an interesting option. Would love to see some videos and then get a review from you regarding turbo lag once you've had a chance to really drive it around.

the car doesn't belong to the OP, he just saw it on the dyno when he dropped his car off

atx370z 10-13-2010 01:05 PM

sponsor related... huh? lol.

As far as wrong section... i suppose i could have posted it in FI... didn't think about it.

I just thought it was cool because it was something a lot of Z owners have only "heard" about and not actually seen.

I think the clearance from the pipes to the ground looks less than what it actually is. The pictures are deceiving. There is actually a good amount of clearance. As much if not more than you have with an F.I. exhaust i would assume.

not really... :ughdance:

Need a dyno graph showing boost and where its max is at in the RPM range.

vividracing 10-13-2010 10:58 PM

wow awesome! looks promising!

Boost_lee 10-14-2010 01:15 AM

I don't think lag would be too much of an issue on this setup, I haven't experienced one first hand, but from most reviews, it really isn't that bad. Depending on what this car is used for, it should be fine.

I love how there is open WG dump for the left exhaust tip, bet this thing sounds bitchin'!

Someone get some video, please :)

spearfish25 10-14-2010 05:49 AM

Why does part of it look like it was fabricated from beaten up tin cans?

halogodx 10-14-2010 06:45 AM

now add a supercharger in the front and goodbye boost lag !!

CBRich 10-14-2010 07:33 AM

You're gonna need to go back to the shop and get us some dyno graphs.

ClemsonWill 10-14-2010 09:04 AM

I don't see how it doesn't have any more boost lag than a regular TT setup. Think about all the extra tubing that turbo has to pressurize before you hit full boost. Not to mention the lag on a larger single turbo.

It's an interesting setup and probably will put great numbers down. From a driveablility standpoint I would stick with TT.

I think its more the issue of being a bit cheaper..... and less work....

ClemsonWill 10-14-2010 10:06 AM

That's probably true. Any idea what the cost difference is?

Lug 10-14-2010 11:39 AM

The one problem I've heard about this setup is the stock cats occationally giving up the ghost blowing chunks into the turbo. HFC's or testpipes will fix that.

:iagree:

Reserve any comments on the performance until I see the dyno....

atx370z 10-14-2010 02:53 PM

When i went back to the shop to pick my car up, they were pulling it around front to park it and it was off the dyno. Sounds like a beast. I should've asked to see the chart, but one of the guys said it was making around 450whp.

Edit: I've talked to a couple guys in Vegas with STS kits on their cars and according to them there is hardly any difference in the amount of time it takes the turbo to reach full boost.
