How fast have you taken your STOCK Z?
 

So Im sure this thread has been out, but not for a Stock Z necessarily and an updated thread would be great so I post a new one here!!!

So only with stock suspension I would like to hear about how fast have you taken your Z. Today I taken my Z to 120mph on a regulated highway and it felt like i was doing 80mph. Its pretty amazing how the stock suspension handled so well at high speeds. It handled anything I threw at it at 120mph, which included some cornering, wet roads (with VDC on), and straight a ways.
I drove my friends 2011 Mustang V6, at 120mph, I felt pretty unsafe due to the stock suspension because it felt soo loose and any little turn of the wheel was a battle to keep it straight compared to the Z. Although this is just IMO, I would like to hear your stories!!!!

110, test drive. I was test-driving it on X-box, though. I had the speakers turned up all the way listening for wind-noise and didn't hear much. Also, the controller didn't vibrate much, indicating that on the X-box at least, the car rides very smooth/stable at that speed.

It was a pretty cool game. Even came complete with an un-marked police Charger. They really strove for reality.

The new V6 Stang tops out at like 113 I think LMFAO... I had my Z up to 145 so far. Felt like I was doing 70.

We'll see after an upcoming track day with some looooong straights.

about 2 weeks ago i took it up to 150.... i have done 165 in my eagle talon, and it felt 'okay'..and it had some heavy suspension work.

i did just about 140(i stopped at like 139 lol) in my s2000, and that felt 'okay' as well i guess, about the same as the talon, but the s2k was stock.


now, i hit 150 in the z......jesus! it felt like i was legitimately going 80 mph, i even talked about it to my car buds as to how unbelievably stable it felt..it felt unreal, but i enjoyed it.

also, yes i know, take it to a track blah blah blah, but i live in north carolina, and i live not that far away from a very very large, and not really vacant road, so yeah, i wasn't endangering anyones life but my own when i did it :)

'not vacant' would mean 'occupied'

130-ish on the track (MotorSport Ranch, Cresson, TX - CCW from Big Bend to Rattlesnake)

140-ish on the Hwy, showing a friend the shift light, wasn't in 3rd :ugh2:

I got it up to 140mph before letting off. Felt pretty nice, but going 70 felt like driving through a school zone after that.

The V6 is limited to 113 mph, so it's not like it doesn't have the power to go faster. Why? Probably the tires on the base model. The V6PP cars should have no problem running to 150 mph with the limiter removed (if it isn't already).

But anyways, none of us should drive this fast on public roads. Only on closed circuits or on XBOX :icon18:

I did 208 mph in a school, blindfolded, listening to Ray Charles sitting in the passenger sit, it was awesome

I actually got my Z doing 160 twice on my way back up from florida...... One of those runs was racing a pontiac GTO more than likely it was the 5.8 since I beat him with ease more than once lol....... Was fun...

Without a limiter or governor, how fast will the Z go? My top speed days are behind me (I'll be good. I almost promise).

I've heard that the aerodynamics won't allow it to go too much faster than the limiter. Maybe the 165/170 mark or so.

This. It'd probably run out of steam somewhere in the 160-170 mph range.

Probably around 170. It's got similar power to weight/aerodynamics as a C5 'vette.

+140 mph at Pacific Raceways on the front straight. Only achievable by working through turns 9 and 10 "carefully". My avatar shows turn 9.

Hit about 120 @ infineon - much higher in some empty frontage street - To the thread starter - you tackled some corners in the wet @ 120? Really? Just dont get side swiped by a tree lol
