C6 Corvette & the 370Z
Wow- I just got done driving a 2009 Corvette Z06 until I was happy
(7.0L 505 hp V8, Horsepower 505 @ 6300 RPM, Torque (lb-ft) 470 @ 4800 RPM). I drove from a dead start from stop, freeway- you name it (with traction control off), and man did it feel slower than our 370Z! And I'm not kidding. With all the extra torque under the hood (470 @ 4800 RPM) it did not feel snappy at all. Part of it may be that it's rear axle ratio is 3.42 (geared for top end) and our final drive ratio is 3.69 (more low-end by comparison), but come on it's a 470 lb-ft torque Corvette that's listed at 3180 lbs! However, I did notice when I looked down at the speedometer it said 50, but it felt like 35; so I know it's fast, just didn't feel like it. Totally surprised. Was fun to drive, but our 370 feels/felt so much faster. Shocked, but actually kinda happy Last edited by Auston; 10-09-2010 at 03:43 PM. |

Weird, my buddy's 07 C6 automatic felt really fast. Everytime he would floor it in a low gear I would get pushed back into the seat followed by me saying "hoooly sh!t"

Are you sure the owner didn't have it programmed in a valet mode or something... or were you high?
Seriously, somebody lock this before this turns into a flame fest. This thread is just asinine. There is NO comparison between the acceleration performance of a stock 370Z and C6 Z06.

Unless your 370Z has a TT or SC kit or something, or the Z06 had 6 bad cylinders, you're experience is just more proof that when people go looking for something, they usually find it. No-matter what it is.

Yeah, this doesn't make any sense. The feeling of acceleration driving the Z06 is on the order of "insane."

Yeah, Hey, and I just test drove a Murcielago LP670 SV, and man, so slow compared with the stock 370Z.................. then I woke up.

lol first gear in a Z06 takes you well above 60 mph. It must have felt slow to him because he was still in first gear.
If you don't have a keen sense of acceleration, gearing can really make a car seem much faster or slower, perceptively.

C6 pulls like a train compare to the Z. This is a 09 Z vs a C6 Z51 at the same track, blue is Z and red is C6.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here is a random corvette video. This is what happened when you try to keep up with a Z06 with a blower in a 400HP C6 YouTube - 0808 MazdaDrivers VIR Corvette C6 Z51 and Z06 |
