I'm 50 and I get alot of the "mid life crisis" jabs but I really don't care. I bought a 350z in 05 and now I've got the 09 370z and I have zero regrets.

The 350z sold in 3 days too, when I bought my 370z. So they are very popular cars and hold decent value compared to most.

Never worry about what others think you should be doing (outside of maybe your spouse of course). If you can afford it, you are the one that has to drive and maintain it. So buy what you want and have fun. Simple.

I think everybody wants to point a finger and scrutinize any (large) purchase a 50 year old man makes and wants to call it a mid-life crisis. So cliche.

When I turn 50 and get an eight ball and 2 hookers, will call that a mid-life crisis too? I wonder. Only one way to find out. :D

I bought my 370 Z last year, for my 62nd birthday. Didn't give the age issue a second thought and I haven't looked back since. I've been very happy with the car in all respects.
Having said that, however, my next car (at age 67) will probably be a model a bit easier to enter and exit---maybe a Mustang or a G 37, for example.
But for now, I continue to enjoy my Z.

Whenever I am asked if I'm having a midlife crisis because of the 370, I just say "No, I've been having a midlife crisis since I am 18."

When you turn 50 will you still jam out to MSI? :tiphat:
I hate to inform everyone, but 50 is not "middle-age". How many people do you know who are 100?

Dunno about MSI, but I bet there are plenty of 50 year olds jamming out to Black Flag, Aggression, Big Black, MDC, etc. and probably a good number of 60-70 year olds still moving their (somewhat calcium deficient) bones to old school proto-punk like NY Dolls, Stooges, MC5, etc.

People generally listen to the music they like for their entire life -- someone who is into hardcore doesn't start listening to Lawrence Welk just because they turned 60 ...

Also, "middle-age" refers to the middle of your adult years. If people are adults from 18- 80s, then they typically have about 60-65 or so years of adult life. So 18 + (.5 x 65) = 50.5 = middle aged

A 1-year old is one year of age. An 80 year old is 80 years of age. A middle-aged person is 40.

That's my math.

If you want to use the medical terminology, 50 would be...wait...let me dig out my text book...

12-20-adolescence
20-40 young adulthood
40-60 middle adulthood
60-death late adulthood

So you are right, if you are saying "Middle-aged adult", or "middle adulthood".

Levinson's model to the seasons of life, however, vindicates my definition as relates to the term "midlife crisis", as Levinson defines the early 40's as a period in life "...marked by intense psychological turmoil."*

Also, the quote "an 8-ball and 2 hookers" is a modification of the MSI Lyric "2 hookers and an 8-ball". hence my reference to MSI.

Not trying to be a ****, but I payed a ton for that text-book and am trying to just get my $$ out of it since they came out with a new edition with some diagram or an added page or some crap and wouldn't buy it back at the end of the semester.

Some developmental psychologists now identify a new stage called "very old age" that is 80+.

So I guess we should have "early mid-life" (40's) and "late mid-life" (50's) now? I'm so confused!

lol @ "early 40's as a period in life "...marked by intense psychological turmoil.""

Compared to when? I bet I could find quotes that state puberty is a period in life marked by intense psychological turmoil, or the 20s, 30s.

Life is a period in time marked by intense psychological turmoil. There is no peace until you die! :)

I plan on having fun 'til the day I die. I'll never stop driving sports cars.

@ 59, while I have loads of songs from the 50s -> 80s, my favorite band appears here: The Crxshadows

Wife and I see them every year in concert and I joke with Rogue (lead singer) when we chat that I'm his oldest fan :roflpuke2:

(I now return to the original broadcast programming--topic)
