But police will issue tickets for exhibition of speed; either way, you get a ticket...

That said, I wonder who police will target more: The 5.0 or the 370?

Good to know! I can also see how the 20-60 sort of assessment would be very relevant, too.

But I really want to know if my coffee will spill all over in the cup holder of the 5.0, just like it does in my Z. With a lid. And a spill guard.

Could be the driver, though

I worked for Ford when they came out and we never had any in for anything but oil-changes).

The 370Z has a nicer interior for sure, but then so does the 2011 mustang. I think that mechanically, the mustang is AT LEAST as sound as the 370Z. As far as "feel" goes, I think the Z has a better lay-out, but that isn't about quality, it's ergonomics.
Test drove the mustang, challenger, and camaro several times before buying my 370Z. In my opinion the Z is more responsive in handling. Better center of gravity. Fit and finish is better, overall lay out is better.

I agree with that. I love the interior/layout of the Z. However, mechanically I think the new mustang is just as good.

its pretty impressive that you know a car that just came out car will start falling apart at 25,000 miles.

You have to be a moron to think that just about any car these days will fall apart that soon. I know he's probably just being a smartass, but c'mon. Ford ranks higher than Nissan in quality and has for some time.

I know from owning both cars that the Z is not built better than the Mustang and the Mustang is not built better than the Z. They both use the same high quality materials and a Premium GT is very comparable to a Touring 370. I do have to say, though, that the leather-wrapped center stack on the 370 goes a LONG way on creating a posh feel, especially coupled with the faux-suede seat inserts and door cards. And it's just hard to beat Japanese ergonomics.

FWIW, the older Fords may have been built with some crappy interiors but they were far from unreliable. My sister is still driving her 2002 Mustang which has over 150,000 miles on it and has only been in for oil changes.

You can expect any mechanically sound car go to that long without issue assuming YOU take care of it properly!

*oops* BRB guys, my engine just fell out. Anyone got some duct tape?

So I was watching Spike today (Horsepower TV maybe?), and they were putting a 5.0 ford motor in a Factory Five hot rod coupe. Anyway, they dynoed the engine, and got 460+ BHP out it. I'm pretty sure it was stock. Is this the case? Does the GT have that output (which is well over the 412 advertised power)?

Well I know it was on an engine dyno and I don't know if they had any emissions controls on it, but I've seen stock dynos in the 380-400 whp range so it's possible.

Well, an open exhaust since the stock exhaust would not work would help pump out some power.

Engine had some kind of exhaust hooked onto it, and I could see cats at the end of the headers (which were very nicely designed IMO).

Yeah the OEM headers are pretty killer. We don't see quite the gains with exhaust that you guys do since the factory exhaust was engineered so well.

yeah, Ford went all out engineering these things for power, its almost like they added aftermarket headers along with a sweet H-pipe. Only gripe I have about the factory exhaust is the crimps they put in it to get it to clear the cross member and rear axle. And yeah, a few guys are dyno'ing around 390whp and 360wtq, and if you factor in 15% drivetrain loss, its making around 440bhp and 405 ft/lbs, so its not entirely out of the question. Another funny thing is that they seem to pick up another 10whp/ft.lbs after the engine has reached 1500 miles or so.
