Low 4's is the new standard for sporty cars. The 'vette does it, the mustang does it, most of the 911 family does it, the thew Z28 should do it, the CTS-V does it, the Hynudai Genesis should do it with the 5.0 it's getting.

It's 0-100 that matters more, though, I think. Even an Evo will do mid 4's to 60, but 0-100? Not so hot.

440 HP, 380 lb's torque, and 3630 Lbs......sounds about right. M3 killer for $15,000 to $20,000 cheaper.

0-100 matters more? because everyone does 0-100mph pulls through town huh? to me, 0-60 times matter most because thats the kinda zip you'll actually use with DD use.

Who races in town?

0-100 tells you more about the power/weight. 0-60 tells you about the driveline/tires/gears.

Most of my driving involves 0-35. I think magazines should report that. And how stable the cup holders are.

They do. 0-10, on up to 0-150, in 10mph increments. At least, the new 5.0 GT and 370Z review I read shows it.

who said anything about racing? the speed limits in my area range from 35-55. Which is why 0-60 matters to me, get up and go is what I appreciate, not top end 150mph pulls.

Even then, 0-60 times are a 10/10ths, perfect conditions, WOT number. That doesn't describe daily life for most folks. It merely describes max capabilities.

Lol, we all know everyone here has gone over the speed limit even if it is a little. No point in buying a car because it is faster 0-60.

I honestly don't know one person that has bought a sports car/muscle car that has never gone over the speed limit. On top of that I have never met anyone that bought a sports car/muscle car just to drive under the speed limit all the time.

I don't endorse street racing but it's a fact that everyone here doesn't follow the rules down to the teeth every minute of their lives. Also, don't get me wrong, I am all about buying cars that you love and enjoy the most. So if you want a 5.0 more than a 370z, go for it. If you are happy I am too. I don't like stomping on people's feelings unless I know they are just out of line.

I care more about things like 20-80 times, they indicate more accurately how fast the car feels.

Especially when you've got cars like the EVO and STI, where their 0-60 times in the mag have very little bearing on how the car feels around town, unless you're dropping the clutch at 6k...

If you want a sports car get a Z.. If you want a muscle car that starts falling apart at 25,000 miles, get a Ford. The quality of the Z is sooo much better..

Maybe he just drag-races light to light never exceeding 60 or competing against anyone else. Who knows?

I agree, like I said, 0-60 is about driveline, not engine. I think the poster bought the wrong car if he bought a 370Z for 0-60 when little pocket-rockets like the EVO and STI are out there. He cheated himself out of a lot of fun on his daily commute.

I have to disagree. The 350Z wasn't that great (plastic EVERYWHERE, rear-end and oil-consumpton issues, blah blah blah), and I think the 2005+ mustang's were much better built (no real issues with them that I was aware of. I worked for Ford when they came out and we never had any in for anything but oil-changes).

The 370Z has a nicer interior for sure, but then so does the 2011 mustang. I think that mechanically, the mustang is AT LEAST as sound as the 370Z. As far as "feel" goes, I think the Z has a better lay-out, but that isn't about quality, it's ergonomics.
