Traded in 2006 350Z for 2010 Corvette

Just traded my 2006 350Z with 100,000 miles for a 2010 Corvette base. The Z still had the original brake pads and clutch and was in great shape.
Chevrolet of Greenacres, West Palm Beach gave me $9000 for the Z and 0% financing for 72 months.
The motor of the Corvette is ridiculous with tons of power and torque everywhere. There is no comparison in terms of acceleration.
I actually think that the 350 had better handling and steering, although maybe I just need to get used to the size of the Corvette.
Also considered the 2011 Mustang GT and 370Z very seriously, but I have never owned a Corvette, and the 0% financing was a sweet deal.
It's only been a week, but I have to say honestly that I miss the Z in some ways. I prefered the compact dimensions and handling of the 350Z. On the other hand, the ride of the Corvette is better than the 350.

100k miles on the stock pads? Holy crap.

Good luck with the new 'Vette.

thank you
it was 95% highway miles..only thing I ever changed on that car were tires plus the recommended service
was very close to getting a convertible 11 Mustang GT or waiting for the Boss 302, but the 0% financing pulled me in..

Please check back in a few weeks or months with a comparison update for us. I did not contemplate a Corvette until after I bought the 370. With Nissans customer service, Chevy sounds pretty good to me right about now.

That's cool. Vettes are super hoe wide, like the camaro. When I rented the SS, the length and width were my biggest complaint. But by the end of the night, I was whippin that SS almost as well as my G. The thing with the vette and camaro is, if there was a mod that could be considered a must have first. I would say its the suspension system. Those cars need serious cornering improvements. The upside though. You have soooo much power on tap. Talk about the ultimate highway car. Some new lungs n ecu tune and your track times bump up by nearly one second done on the cheap. Unfortunately in a Z you can't get that much doing intake headers exhaust. If you get .03 second improvement, you are lucky. New lungs usually umprove v6 cars after the quarter mile is over on the higher speeds while you get across the board power improvements on v8's
The high rev of the Z makes driving a lil more exciting but I think v8 modding is more rewarding. So good luck with your new vette bro. Have fun in ya new vette and be safe.

I, too, am interested. I'd like to make the same switch one day.

I'll be happy to update in a month or so with my impressions.
I hope that I get used to the size of the car, as of now that is the thing that most bothers me ..I was able to throw my 350Z around like a go kart..and the Corvette feels like a boat in comparison so far. The seats in the 350 were also better in my opinion.

Enjoy the vette!
I have had both. You are correct, the vette has a ton more power, but the Z's handling just feels better.

I considered the vette as well but decided to go with my 370z because of interior quality.

nonetheless a vette is still a hell of a car, it was a hard decision.

Good choice alternative to a 370Z for sure. I had the same delema and I must admit that after gettin the Z I still find myself looking back at Corvettes.
My next ride will be a Vette GS for sure but I do plan to keep the Z as well.:driving:

If you don't mind saying, what was the price of the base Vette (I assume it was new, not a barely used 2010)?

Mag350Z 10-08-2010 12:41 PM

it is a left over new 2010 Base Corvette
it was 43000 after discounts and Chevy is offering 0% financing for 72 months for left over 2010

There was also a left over Grand Sport 2010 on their lot, but had many options and was about 60K

Mag350Z 10-08-2010 12:42 PM

I had to put 5000 down plus the 350Z and financed the remained

I kind of regret not keeping the Z as I loved the car but financially it didn't make sense for me

:iagree:

Been there and done that too! Ultimately for me the Z is more fun to drive and I prefer the smaller dimensions of the Z over the Corvette.

I do occassionally miss all that torque though. :roflpuke2:
