Mine is pretty beat up but I would never get rid of it. I like it for the "indicator" that it is since my car is lowered.

Just to share my experience...My car didn't come with the "front chin aero deflector" either, and I realized it a few months after I bought the car and saw this thread. I dealt directly with Nissan corporate from the beginning. After a couple of weeks, the rep who I was dealing with called me and said that neither the dealer where I bought the car, nor the dealer it was transferred from wanted to pay for and install it.
As a result, she gave me a $250 credit to be used at any Nissan dealership. I just ordered the chin spoiler today for $167, will put it on myself when it arrives, and have $83 extra dollars for maintenance parts or other accessories. I'm pretty happy with the outcome to this point, but will hold final judgement for when I have the spoiler in hand. I do have one question though - I also do not have the small black pieces in front of each wheel. As far as I can tell, these do not come as a part of the chin spoiler I just ordered, but I can't find a part number or any way to get them. Is it true that these should already be on every Z, whether or not they have the sport package? Any idea how to get them individually? |

Good thread. I bought my Z 2 weeks ago in my hometown (miami) and also didn't mount the front chin spoiler. I noticed this when a few guys on here saw pics from my new z and asked me why I didn't have the spoiler. That's when I called the dealer and they told me they were going to place an order and that they'll ship it to my house (Pensacola). My question is since I'm 600 miles away from the dealer I purchased the z from, am I going to be able to ask a local Nissan dealer to install this for me? The way I see it is I shouldn't have to pay for anything since it was suppose to
Come with the car. |

This should no more than 20 minutes. I bought my car on jan 1. I noticed the front spoiler was in the trunk wrapped up when i went for the test drive. Upon finalizing my paperwork, car was cleaned and front lip installed. Hardly took 20 minutes..

I've read that front spoilers play a big part in both stabilizing the vehicle (reducing front lift) and reducing aerodynamic drag. The chin spoiler along with the plastic panels under the car reduce the coeficient of friction for the car as well as reduce front lift at speed. They also get in the way on steep driveways. Get a little, give a little.

Just a quick note.. for those you bought a sports package, when you take delivery of your car, dealer is required to give you a PreDelivery Inspection Checklist, which they go over with you during your purchase.
On the checklist the first section is Under Body/Exterior (first section) The second to last checkbox: Y or N : Install front chin spoiler (if equipped) - this must be checked |

FYI, I escalated this to Nissan. I was told that they had talked to the Manager at Woodland HIlls Nissan, and I should go ahead and see him.
I could never see him (he was always out, but I left a printout of this thread) so I decided to call. He said he'll pesonally look into it. After a few weeks, nothing. Obviously, everyone knows that I have sold my Z. Still, it hurts due to principle. BTW, when I received the survey, I ended up scoring the issue with low marks. I think the rating was fair, and done without emotions. "just the facts, mam!" |
