I do not have the ability to read the hearts and minds of men, like a deity, and Jeffblue. It must be wonderful. I live on a steep mountain and with VDC on, it lights up, and activates the tugging and pulling of the brakes needlessly, with great frequency the entire ride downhill. With VDC off, the same drive at the same speed, the California Highway Patrol behind me, not one peep out of the tires, no loss of traction, and I am still under the speed limit. Your conclusion I am driving like an *** and I am cheap. The CHP clearly drew a different conclusion about the former.

Regarding cheapness: I worked my way through University and educated myself before I bought an expensive car. This education including critical thinking and logic. Wether or not you went to college or not, it is obvious you do not think logically. Aristotle would agree with me. So if needed sell your car, and educate yourself before you jump to a one size fits all chastisement. It is worth it, just to avoid embarrassing gaffs like the one you made.

How often, is very often, in your opinion to lose traction, safely? Clearly you have a number or frequency in mind that it is safe. A few times a day, once a day, once a week. What have you determined so that we are illuminated to your mind set. Many, myself included, would argue safety dictates no loss of traction ever.

i went to college. i bought my own Z. i am very logical. I dont see the need for these stupid VDC threads. did you really mention 'aristotle' in a thread about traction control.... i mean, really?

Anyways, this thread is going in circles, if people have a problem with they way i am most comfortable driving my car, in San Diego, CA come let me know. I Dont Drive with VDC on, hell even in rain, and yes i said rain... I drove for my First 5-6 yrs in ny in snow not the city, and through the four seasons, i have a pretty damn good understanding of road conditions and what the car is doing under me, and when i feel i could use a little nanny i turn the thing on. I have been out here for about 4.5 yrs... and the general populous dont know how to drive. Im not trying to toot any horn....im just saying... i also grew up with a father who taught me just about everything i know about cars, what to do in situations when **** gets a littls out of place etc...

But with all the highway sweepers and high bank entrance/exit ramps we have here well they are fun to push on, within reason.

I am a person that is constantly on alert and unfortunately it allows me to drive with quick responses as well as allow myself to move with traffic in a law abiding manner.

BOTTOM LINE

DRIVE WITHIN YOUR OWN APPROPRIATE SKILL LEVEL.

Had you taken critical thinking you would know that Aristotle and his teachings of logic, are taught in every introductory critical thinking course. I realize you do not need these stupid VDC threads. Apparently you do need to comment within them, and belittle others. Simply defend your rationale and name calling or please do not do it. Thanks.

where i went to college, critical thinking was the english class they placed kids in who couldn't write an essay or express themselves in a coherent matter in written word. the ones who couldn't even place into english 101. I know who aristotle is. I just thought it was funny to see someone mention an ancient greek philosopher in a car forum.

Anyways, it wasn't my intention to place everyone who clicks the 'VDC off' button into a group of hoons that are a danger to society, so if i offended you i'm sorry.

I'm not sure I understand your tirade. Is there any other time, besides driving on a hill, that VDC impairs your driving?

Personally I don't understand the VDC hate, but I don't normally drive in such a way that would cause VDC to turn on. Is it impossible for some people drive in a manner that precludes VDC from activating? I don't get it. So far it seems like the only valid reasons for not having VDC on are when you're driving downhill and when on a track.

Almost all my driving is done up and downhill winding the entire way. To some this automatically makes me an *** and cheap. Instead of going to work and back home again.
Hate is too strong for the VDC. In the rain it is fine. What I hate is forgetting to turn it off. This is a personal decision. Everyone should be free to drive with the VDC in the position in which they are most comfortable without criticism.

Be careful with which audience you make these recommendations. It's important to separate your opinion of VDC in how it relates to your own driving as compared to the driving capabilities of the general public. I certainly don't want to be on public roads with everyone having their traction/stability controls turned off.

what 'garbage' are you talking about? my VDC does not interfere with any daily driving of mine. what is your idea of daily driving? you shouldn't be taking corners so quickly that your car loses traction, and you shouldn't be getting on the car so hard that it loses traction as part of daily driving

the one thing i don't like about vdc is how intrusive it is when accelerating in a straight line with low traction. for example a dusty road or when it's snowing. in these situations a bit of wheel spin is ok for the sake of acceleration. the vdc however becomes VERY intrusive and almost cuts off all throttle and you end up standing there going nowhere quickly. i actually prefer to turn off vdc and modulate the throttle a bit until i build up some speed and then turn it back on again.

Let's just say I was shocked when I found out how advanced the Ford stability and traction control systems are when compared to the Z.
