New Z Ride
First of all as a new Z owner, thanks to the wealth of knowledge available on this forum and all that have posted to it.
I picked up a black 2009 370Z with SP a couple of months ago. It had about 9,500 miles on it and was 15 months old. My previous rides were a 83 RX7, a 1993 MR2 Turbo and most recently a 2001 Mustang GT. All but the RX7 I bought used with less than 20K on them. So far I love the Z, faster than the Mustang, much more of a one piece feel. I will not miss hitting a bump on a turn and having the rear end side step with that solid rear axle. I like having a rear hatch. The Mustang was much louder with road noise on the Interstate despite loafing at 1850 RPMs at 70. Forget about hearing the radio. No issues with the Z so far. My wife's 2003 Maxima GLE has not had one single issue since we bought it in Sep 2002. Complaints: Rear visibility, need I say more. For a 5'8" guy, the driver side mirror is right in my path of view when turning left. The paint, the black paint gets a swirl mark just looking at it. Nissan could learn from Ford about paint. My wife said the paint on my 2001 Mustang (pristine) looks better than the 2009 Z's. 5 months in the used car lot with numb nuts wiping it with a dirty rag did not help. I walked around my company parking lot looking at black car finishes and no doubt, Nissans were the worse. Well I have rambled enough, any future posts by me will be much shorter. |

true what you said. paint is VERY weak on the z, scratches and chips like crazy. as of right now, i stopped caring about the paint. i'll just let it collect all the scratches and chips till it gets bad, and in a couple of years or so i'll just have the whole thing repainted. and yes, the side mirrors are HUGE and leave gigantic blind spots in a turn. I usually just move my head back and forth like a walking pigeon just to check the blind spots and make sure i'm not turning into a stroller with an infant or a midget crossing the road.
