Deer in headlights.... lolz
I was laughing all night about this after it happened and wanted to share.
So I was driving home through Niles Canyon last night around 1am. Niles is a one lane road that's about 7 miles long through a canyon. I usually take this way home since it's usually empty and I can have some fun. But of course as I exit a Prius is in front of me driving 2 miles below the posted 45mph. So I decide to coast for a few min and let him get some distance on me so I don't frustrate myself riding his tail. After about 5 min I figured he's far away enough that I can drive through my normal speed without having to step on the brakes every 12 seconds. Halfway through I round a corner and there he is driving 40mph in a 45. As we round the next bend he slams on his brakes because there's a deer in the road with it's back turned. The deer doesn't move and I see him inching closer reving and braking trying to scare the deer away. The deer doesn't even give him the time of day or the deer in the headlights look. As I get a few hundred feet from the Prius I downshift into 2nd and the deer bolts off the side of the road. At that point the Prius was kind enough to pull to the side and let me pass. |

I have a better solution: put a real damn engine in the car. It's not like the Prius A) is good for the environment or B) gets phenomenal fuel economy anyway... With an efficient turbodiesel the Prius would probably be stellar at the pump, due to its aerodynamics!

Yeah but if you did something logical like that it wouldn't be trendy anymore.

It's about image bro. Look at any of the houses in Mclean... you'll have a V12 Vantage and a Hummer in the garage and a Prius in the driveway. Gotta look like you give a damn.

Yup. Kinda like how the SUV took off because no one wanted to drive a dorky station wagon, and then gas prices soared, so no one wanted to be seen in an excessively large SUV, so now the rage is "crossovers"... All of these things, with some exceptions, are the same concept: suburban people movers. But fashion dictates which one ppl buy.
