I have a similar problem. The disabled light comes on when my wife sits in the seat. She is 5'8" and weighs 120 lbs. The car has been to the dealer twice and they want me to take it to a different dealer. It is like talking to a wall.

Sometimes the sensors trip and recongnize that a adult of lightweight could be mistaken for a child because of the airbag going off on a small child as a safety measurment. Depending on the weight of the person and position he/she is in the seat, it can turn off.

Had that problem with my 2011 Z. "Airbag Off" light would come on every so often with my wife sitting there. I haven't seen that yet on my 2014 Z, but it's brand new. She watches it like a hawk now, however, so I'm sure she'll keep posted.

I've noticed this previously in my 2011 Z. Haven't bothered to screw with it because it's inconsistent and infrequent. Plus, I don't have passengers very often.

Probably normal. I forget what the minimum weight is, but she's pretty close. Raising her legs, so more weight is on the sensor, may trigger it. If heavier passengers turn the air bag on, she's just too light.

Is it better for her to just sit normal with a seatbelt then? -Raj

The Owner's Manual discusses what to do for passengers that don't trigger the sensor. I assume wearing the belt is all that she can do if she can't activate the bag.
Placing a small, firm pillow so that her weight is concentrated on the sensor may help.
