Nismo Radiator cap
Just out of curiosity, what is the non-Nismo 370Z radiator cap rated at? The Nismo one is rated at 137kPa or 0.137Mpa. The Nismo cap (aftermarket) is rated at 0.13Mpa....or roughly 130kPa. So wouldnt the aftermarket Nismo one be at a lower rating than the OEM Nismo 370Z version?
I would assume that changing out the radiator cap to a lower Mpa rating would then lower the boiling point correct? Just wondering. Figured that I would leave the OEM cap alone and not change it for a "nicer"..."prettier" shiny Nismo badged one. |
Can someone please take a look under their hood to report on what the radiator cap rating is at please on a non-Nismo 370Z???

Bueller??? Anyone........????

Pretty sure it says on the cap doesn't it?

Actually a higher pressure cap raises the boiling point of coolant as it pressurizes the cooling system.

Victor-Yup to that as well too. Realize that it will raise the boiling point....its one of those things that I pulled off the old cap from my G35 which was a 88 kPa rating and hence the 1.3 would have been okay. Just that the Nismo 370 seems to have a really high 137 kPa rating. Thus making the 1.3 Nismo cap...a little bit lower now versus OEM. Since the stock 370 Nismo cap is rated at 1.37 bar. |
my 09 touring sport states 137kpa on the cap. Hope this helps

Its actually from my old G35...just thought to maybe use it. The ratings have changed and apparently it is now technically underrated versus the OEM version. Thats all that I was asking about. |
