Question: How Many Cars Have You
bought through your life so far? What was the first and is your Z your most recent? Let's see how many of us have you changed over the years or kept a similar taste in cars?
I've bought 22 new cars over the past 44 years. My first car purchase was in 1965, when I went off to college. I bought a new 1965 Mustang. It was a 4 cylinder, burgundy with black vinyl seats, a "four on the floor" and the standard AM radio and heater (no air). I enjoyed the car but was sorry I didn't by a convertible----which I traded for on a 1966 Mustang convertible the very next year! Car crazy kid! My most recent was my Z, which will probably have to be my last sports car (starting to get a bit uncomfortable for me at nearly 63). But for now, I'm still enjoying it very much. Car crazy old guy! |
I've owned 9 cars total. First car was a 93 Si Prelude. I've owned a wide range of Hondas/Acuras including a 85 Prelude [mint, low miles when I bought it], a Type S CL, a terrible four door 91 Civic, and currently a turbo CRX. I think its time I moved on to RWD. :)

I'll make it short and sweet and just name my favorites.
69 GTO in high school didn't know what i had until years later 84,90,&96 corvettes still miss my c5 96 vette!! will buy another vette one day! 05 350, 09 370. love the 370 wouldn't have bought it if i hadn't liked the 350 IMHO dollar for dollar so far the 370 is best bang for the buck. for me it's all about the Z's and the vettes |
There is already a thread about this. I'm closing on 50 cars.
First one 1979 1200 Honda Civic, current one 2009 370Z. |
20+ cars (owned as in title in my hands, not lease).
My z is also my latest car. Next car purchase planned 2013. Getting me a nice dd. :p |
1. 18ish: 1981 Dodge Diplomat, undercover police vehicle bought for like a 100 bucks from an auction. Beat the living hell out of that car :D
2. 19 - 22ish: 1979 Pontiac Firebird. Blew up the stock 301 and dropped a 403 6.6 liter into it. Car was a torque beast, tho' constantly broke down -- that car broke my heart. 3. 22ish - 30ish: 1987 Celica GT-S. Loved that little car! How awesome it was not to get stranded on the road once a month anymore! 4. 30ish to 34ish: 1993 Celica GT-S. Not as much fun as the '87 (and sadly not a GT-4), but still a sweet little grocery getter. 5. 34ish to 38: 2000 Celica GT-S -- eventually supercharged and putting down around 250 whp. Ah, that car was a blast! 6. 38 to whenever something cooler comes out (FT-86 w turbo???) -- the Zed! |

19 cars. First was a 1968 Ford Torino Convertible with a 390, GT wheels, hood scoop, glass back window. MAN I wish I still had that car! Traded it on a '71 Mach 1 'stang. I have owned Hondas, Toyotas, Fords, Nissans, Dodge (worst thing I ever owned - mini van - tranny burned up with just over 50K), three Miatas, four other Mazdas. I even owned an early Hyundai Excel. Wow, what a piece of dung. The '09 Z is the latest and it's just over a year old. I kind of gravitated to Japanese cars because I only want to work on my cars if I want to, not because I need to and I want it to be cheap when I want to. Never owned a German car for some reason. I guess none of their cars "speak" to me.

Traded some rockers to brother for his used 350, later the trans pump went out. Ordered and installed a "performance" T350. Head cracked a while later and I put in a new 350 4-bolt, then the trans is screwed up again. Sold cheap. 1995 Dodge Spirit - New trans, radiator, heater core, cylinder head, plus a lot of little things. Sold to a junkyard. 2009 Nissan 370Z Nismo |

Well i suppose this thread could be misleading due to: What kinda car did you trade or sale to get your Z or what cars have you owned in the previous years of your life time. Just a thought.

Hmm, I though the topic for THIS thread was perfectly clear:
"How many cars have you bought through your life so far? What was the first and is your Z your most recent? " I don't see how that could possibly be interpreted as "what did you trade for your Z?" The other thread, however, "What did you drive before your 370Z?" COULD be interpreted as the car immediately preceeding the Z, or a lifetime list. Semantics aside, it made for a nice trip down memory lane, good topic (even if it has existed before)! |
