I don't think we can upgrade our cruise control to the ones on the Infinity, hey we cannot depends on these electronic devices, there was an incident on new Volvo, that car just crash in to the rear of the truck, during test,in front of reporters of the all the world car's magazines.!

ICC scares me. just another reason for drivers to get lazy on the road.

:iagree: It will of course depend on the driver, but the current state of driver distraction is terrible.

I saw a woman on the Interstate the other day with her visor down, looking up into the mirror and using her eyelash curler. I don't recall her other hand on the wheel either.

It was completely aggressive.

Actually, adaptive cruise control uses millimeter radar. No radar detector picks up that very high frequency radar band. I had adaptive cruise control in Prius (sold it for the Z). It was perfect! I could just set it and take my foot off the accelerator. The ACC applied brakes when needed. It threw control back to me under 20 mph.

Toyota put it on the 2010 Prius (taken, I assume, from Lexus).

Actually, before I bought the 2010 Prius, I had a 2006 Prius. That car really did have unintended acceleration. Not the stuck pedal variety. I find that hard to believe. In my case, the car would just take off at full throttle. I could stop it by applying the brakes. The Prius has brake pedal priority. For a while I thought I was dreaming. It usually occured when I was entering a freeway. I always put it off to my lead foot. Then one day I was stopped at a light. I gently started releasing the brake pedal, and the damn car tried to take off. I immediately hit the pedal and the engine subsided. I released it again and it tried to take off. Finally, after I turned the cruise control on and off, the car began to behave normally. That's why I traded the 2006 for the 2010.

A year later (beginning of September of this year (2010)) I just found myself avoiding driving. I realized that as cool as the hybrid technology is, the Prius is just not fun to drive. So, since this is the 40th anniversary of the 240Z and I had one of the first of those (serial 11035), it seemed that fate intended for me to get a 370. So, I did. I got the touring coupe with the sport and navi options. I love it!

wasnt that like over a year ago? :shakes head:

I remember it well. I laughed hard.

Mercedes had the same problem but afterwards it was revealed that they forgot to tell the test guy that he had to turn it on. :roflpuke2:

I don't trust that technology either.

Another thing, yes, some adaptive cruise systems set off your V1 detector. Infiniti has used a laser, and so does Lexus. Unless they just changed what frequency they use, it was still laser. That's for the poster who said it was only HF Radio. Sets off my V1 every time. So do the neon high-mounted stoplamps on the old GMC Envoy and Chevy Trailblazer. V1 owners know what I'm talking about.

And one more thing... We drive Nissans people. If you love them, remember this... They are the ones who spun off "INFINITI" not "INFINITY". If you want an INFINITY, go buy some speakers.

Good day. :hello:

Toyota uses millimeter radar for its adaptive cruise control. I can say after a year of using it, I completely trusted it. I don't know what others use, but the radar unit sits right behind the Toyota logo on equipped Prius. The logo itself is a special plastic on the models with radar. The Prius I had also has auto parking (worthless!). It is controlled by ultrasound transceivers on the front corners of the car. The lane keep assist (keeps you centered in a lane, even will take turns for you as long as you hold the wheel) uses a camera mounted in the rear view mirror that reads the lines on the road.

I have to assume it is the same system that Lexus uses.
