The Z is the third most compared car to the Camaro, after the Mustang and Challenger. See right sidebar here: Chevrolet Camaro Reliability, Price Comparisons, Invoice Comparisons, and Specifications The Camaro doesn't show up in the ranking for the Z yet. In general, the Z gets researched much more often, so it takes more comparisons to make its list: Nissan 350Z / 370Z Reliability, Price Comparisons, Invoice Comparisons, and Specifications |
^ Good info

Not this again...
Camaro is such a hot looking car, America finally did a good thing for not such an *** rapping price! But im not in it for looks, im in it to win it. Ya dig?! |

well, for the most part that thread was civil...i've always loved the styling and design of muscle cars, but i've always hated how they drove. for me, muscle cars are great for eye and ear candy. the VQ sounds nice, but an american v8 sounds fantastic.
|
I love how I heard a guy the other day say his Camero was true American muscle when his model was the V6. I always referred to American muscle as big V8's.
|
I mean it always come down to a V8 vs V6.
Sure they may have more power with that v8 but that's also way more weight and loss in stability/control. Our Z's handle like a champ in stock form. With the right boltons and nice tune we're pretty scary. lol... Deep down we are all car heads. We should respect each others choices not bash. |
I actually went test drove the camero SS three days ago, I told the sale's person I'm looking for a car with back seat (not true). He let me test drove it. I took it for almost 30mins test drive, the car has 15 miles on it, it came back with 31 miles haha, the sale's person was pretty cool. I took it to some twisty roads, and the high way. On the highway entrance, I floored it pedal to the metal, and the acceleration did not impress me, I have 320whp on my z, which is about 370ish bhp, and I don't feel the SS is that much faster than my Z. I think the main reason that the SS didn't impress me on the acceleration was because it's weight, almost 4k pounds. The V8 sound is addicting, so much better than the VQ37 sound (the engine sound, not the exhaust). The thing I hate the most about the camero is the windows, can't see **** inside, the windows are so small, and so high up, I'm 5-10, and I have a hard time seeing outside. I'm gonna test drive the new 5.0, see if that will impress me.

To many stripes, I like the wheels though.

Nothing like spam to bring a thread back from the dead.

I still think it is absolutely ridiculous to compare the two cars, everyone knows the Z is the clear choice hands down so no point in even wasting time comparing the two... :p
|
I test drove a fully loaded SS and it was nice! Definitely two totally different cars. I love my Z but I would drive a Camaro too!
Without stripes of course ;) |
I have one of each. Bought the camaro for the wife at the end of 2009. The Camaro is a nice highway cruiser, smooth and quiet. The car is well sorted but it is too big and heavy to be considered sporty, even by Mustang standards.

The Mustang is only a couple hundred pounds heavier than a Sport+Touring 370Z Coupe. The Camaro and Challenger are several hundred pounds heavier than the Mustang.

Mustang GT: ~3600 lbs Camaro SS: ~3900 lbs Challenger: ~3850 lbs A bit more than a couple (unless you are a pretty freaky, and we all know you are m4a1, :rofl2:). Not trying to slam the Mustang, as I do like it (as I've already stated in other threads), just pointing out the weight differences I found when I googled for them. Weight be damned, I still want the Boss 302. |
That's for the base. The Sport + Touring brings it up over 3,300 lbs. So I was a little off.
And a SRT-8 Challenger is over 4,000 lbs. |
And yes, I am very freaky.
What are you doing tonight? Oh, you don't have to answer. I'll just take a look at my surveilance cameras. :yum: :bowrofl: |
yeah i got to drive the camaro SS a bit, friend has one. and its got a nice torquey rush to it.. but honestly thats it. The interior was soo bad.. just bad. Sure its got back seats but they aint easy to get to or super comfy. The trunk is okay. When i was shopping though for a car, I didnt even look at them. Instead I was considering a G8 gxp. same kinda power, but real back seats and a real trunk and a much nicer interior. Probably weighs less too and based of the same platform.
|
G8 GXP is a nice car. Designed in Australia as a derivative of the Holden Commodore for the US market. Unfortunately as Pontiac is no more they killed the car, although there is rumors it may return at some point under the GM/Chevy name.

The most objectionable thing I feel on the Challenger is just how massive and plain the sides are, they are basically one clean wall of metal and make the car look larger than it is. If the whole car shrunk slightly, it would be perfect especially with the 6 speed manual.
|
Yeah, the Challenger just looks fat. Its waaay too tall.

Z: ~3250 lbs = 9.7 lbs/hp Mustang GT: ~3600 lbs = 8.7 lbs/hp Camaro SS: ~3900 lbs = 9.2 lbs/hp Challenger: ~3850 lbs = 9.0 lbs/hp THis is why the 'stang now rocks, plus it out-handles the other two americans easily and is creepiing up into Z territory. |
the thing though about power.. weight all that is that its all relative. Yes lower weight could be nicer and higher hp could be nicer.. but its all relative to the design and engineering of the car as a whole. So much goes into how the power is put to the ground, the gear ratio's, aero dynamics, etc etc etc etc etc. that well in the end, people just have to go out and run the cars.
Not saying that a car with 336hp and weights 10,000lb's can beat a 370z but when people knacker over 100lb's or 15 hp in completely different cars.. ehh its a useless arguement. Thats why i spent about 3 months test driving different cars each weekend. P.S The g8 is an awesome car. A manual 6.0 GTO is also a ton of fun. |
id take a camaro over a stang in a heartbeat.
|
As for me, I would take Mustang over Camaro especially the Shelby model. Camaro looks flashy outside and muscular looking... But oh boy, inside, let's not talk about it. = Metal outside = Plastic inside...
Needless to say, I would stay with my 370. My friend who owns Porsche always dream about owning a Z whenever he sees my car. What's up with that? |

The Boss 302 is still hawt. And to your point, what is it with the Challenger being so tall? I do not get that. |
Thankx for the good read =)
|
out of the main american muscles I do have to admit that I like the camaro the most. I hate the butt of the mustang.
