For some reason, a few posts get off on a tangent about the genesis. Mod should have deleted those :D
|
yea I totally agree about those posts lol
|
I've owned a mustang and a camaro and I'm now driving my first Z. I wouldn't compare my specific 3 cars directly because they're each from a different era ('66 mustang, 2001 camaro and 2009 370) but I'd consider them competitors.

Gabriel77 def on the money the Z the Camaro and to a lesser extent lol JK the mustang are absolutely competitors

1/4 mile times. Ugh. Straight lines are fun! :ugh2:
With the weight, HP, looks and interior of the Z, it pulled me away from the 2010 Camaro. I was seriously considering it too, but I've done my research, made up my mind, and wouldn't want to wait all that time only to have them delayed again or have GM loose support of it due to failing company profits after I bought the car. |

I had always planned to get a new muscle car after this deployment, and had originally settled on the challenger...after some time and a lot of research i began to think twice, then came the possibility of the camaro...i was very interested in the prospect of owning a new shark...so i researched it to death as i always do...and i wasnt happy with the interior either...
I didnt even know the 370zs exsisted until January of this year...the first time i had even seen a picture of one was on msn.com...well needless to say that was all it took...finally leading me to the point i am at right now (ordered and patiently awaiting) i have always liked the 240, 260, and especially the 280zs...so naturally when i saw the 370z it truelly harkened me to my days of youth when i would see my high school friends driving 260s, and 280s, as well as the old faithfuls, stangs, and camaros... i really like the 370z in everyway...and believe it will be a great car for a daily driver...sadly though I WILL miss my mach1... |
DING! WINNER!!! Found this post on the first page!

As a closet Ford fan I'm more concerned with how the Camaro matches up against the Terminators, which in my eyes, is still the king of the modern muscle cars. High 12 1/4 miles. 4.6s to 60? I'm not sure any of the new muscle cars have matched that. The SS should and considering its four door counterpart hits 60 in 4.5 seconds, (according to Motor Trend) I would put money on the SS being faster. I doubt the 370 can hang, even with a list of bolt ons. I'm really hankering for an all out muscle car battle. 03/04 SVT Cobra vs. LS2 GTO vs. 02 WS6/SS vs. Challenger SRT8 vs. New SS vs. GT500. That's all over the board I know, but just imagine the sight...
At the drag strip the Z fits in right behind the LS1's. The cars may all be loosely cross shopped but if straight line speed was all that mattered who would have a Z? Maybe I'll put my foot in my mouth when the Camaro hits dealers, but there's not a car up there that won't be a few car lengths back after a few corners. But just given the initial price of the SS, it has to be considered. Anyone into speed, straight or otherwise, should be interested. |
BrokenVow, I agree with you. The Maro matches up more with the Terminators to me; I said this in another thread some time back. My bet is the Maro puts down similar numbers on the strip and MAYBE a bit better than the Terminators on the road course.
I LOVED the Terminators! |
Tis is why I'm a member of both forums LOL
|
I am a member over there too. And I was cross shopping the Camarao, C6, Genesis Coupe, new Mustang and RX8.
In the end I am impatient and bought the Z. If GM survives I will definitely look at the Camaro in a few years as a replacement for the Z. |
