Buy Another 370Z?

Hypothetically speaking, if your car gets totalled, what would you do?

I am just curious. BTW, voter names are not visible; so be honest.

Carno 09-07-2010 10:55 PM

Depending on the insurance payout, I'd try to buy another Z.

red6spd 09-07-2010 11:06 PM

Since I have only had my Z for about 3 months probably get another Z. After maybe a year or two of owning it I would probably try pulling off an M3. OK back to earth, maybe the new STI Sedan.

cab83_750 09-08-2010 01:18 AM

Hmmmm....Interesting stats so far. "Keeping the $$$" is 2nd.

mattjk 09-08-2010 01:26 AM

if my z got totalled, I would get a nismo the 2nd time around. when I first saw it, I hated the way it looked, but now it has really grown on me. I think it is amazing looking now. Go figure.

i was going to trade my z in for a nismo, but the loss on trade didn't make sense. Probably going to do a conversion in the future.

Pushing_Tin 09-08-2010 01:33 AM

I'd buy another Z or a new Mustang.

DarkPath 09-08-2010 04:11 AM

I'd buy another Z - There is no other car community on earth with as many diverse and enthusiastic owners. If you've been to Zdayz - you know what I am talking about. You buy the Z for what ever personal reason - but find that it came with an unexpected kinship too. All you have to do is drive down to the corner to find it.

elm_tx 09-08-2010 04:26 AM

I've had an '85 and a '95 300ZX, currently a '10 NISMO. During that period I've also had a '83 Trans Am and a '96 Vette. I'll stick with the Z, it's a seriously fun car with a nice smooth ride. Very compact and easily tossed around on the road.
Currently trying to sell the Corvette, 96 convertible with 25k miles on it, it's a fun car, but I really like the NISMO.

I've had this happen for real......totalled a Yellow '09.....had my Monterey Blue '09 in the driveway in under a month. Broken foot and all!

wh!plash 09-08-2010 07:22 AM

I'd buy another one, no question. I think the second time around I'd choose an auto in red though.

Crazyc 09-08-2010 09:08 AM

Oh YES

Would by a new one straight away...there can be only one (highlander) problem would be the color...i have pearl white roadster....maybe red or go ott and order the yellow....but there would be a new baby in my crib.I have looked around and at this value and quite a bit above the best looking by far.:driving:

Red__Zed 09-08-2010 09:27 AM

Depends on the circumstances in which I totaled it. If someone else hit me , I'd probably get another Z. If I wrecked it being a douche, I might move to something more tame.

antman22 09-08-2010 09:30 AM

I'd probably get another one, but maybe the 40th anniversary this time around...

KillerBee370 09-08-2010 09:47 AM

I would probably get another for the simple reason that nothing else in that class really compares and I can't afford the new GT2 RS anyway.

Horseface 09-08-2010 09:47 AM

I'd go back to German.

nuTinmuch 09-08-2010 11:56 AM

I'd go with a 40th Anniversary one or a new STi sedan.

OldGuy 09-08-2010 11:57 AM

That's a thought provoking question.
I've had my Z for only less than a year, so if it were totalled now or in the forseeable future, I'd replace it with an identical Z. But if it were totalled 5 years or more from now, I'd then be 67 or older and I think I'd finally have to retire to a more comfortable car. In the meantime, I'm enjoying my last sports car very much and I'm pleased in every way with my decision to buy it and its aftermarket leather interior.

Montez 09-08-2010 03:08 PM

Probably not, so much good stuff out there right now to dabble in.

kenchan 09-08-2010 03:17 PM

i'd get another one in the same color and configuration. im not done playing with the Z yet. :p

phelan 09-08-2010 03:31 PM

Replace the Z if I can. If not, then I'm going to find myself my old 1991 240SX to play with again.

PapoZalsa 09-08-2010 03:45 PM

I have gap insurance so I don't worry, but I think I will go the Bimmer way.

JayYoon 09-08-2010 04:28 PM

lol its up2 u... do u like Z? personally i would get a GTR... but... lil outta price range... lol...

510z 09-08-2010 04:32 PM

roadster

JohnsZ 08-05-2013 12:59 PM

Would you buy another 370Z?

Just wondering how many of you would buy another 370Z when it comes time to trade or sell the one you have. I'm also wondering how many of you would buy another Z but a different model (i.e. Roadster vs Coupe) color, transmission, navigation, etc. Might be intertesting to see poll results!

kenchan 08-05-2013 01:02 PM

sure, why not? i will just photoshop it a different color.

Mt Tam I am 08-05-2013 01:06 PM

Yes except that 2014 Stingray looks pretty compelling.

i can make my Z look like a stingray.

edk370 08-05-2013 01:10 PM

No. Although I liked the 370 I once owned, I don't believe in buying the same car twice because it's like watching the same movie twice.

It amazes me how some people on this forum "downgrade" e.g. E92 M3 to 370z; C6 Vette to 370, etc. and they're not disappointed. But the people who upgrade to cars like M3, Porsche (Boxsters, Caymans, 911s) usually don't want to go back.

...As for the Z35, whenever that'll be released, we will see. Hopefully it will not be in the shadows of the GT-R, because the Z32 tt wasn't in the shadows of the R32 GT-R imo.

enkei2k 08-05-2013 01:11 PM

nope, wouldn't buy another Z. The time to trade or sell will never come.

i like watching the same movie twice. i get more out of it the 2nd time.

fonzo179 08-05-2013 01:12 PM

Personally, I would.

For that one, I would go sport all the way (aero kit, and low-profile lip on the trunk would be the only things "looks-wise"). All else would be chasis/handling upgrades, and the highest quality forced induction tuning I could afford.

It would be an EXCLUSIVE track car. I just like that image of a stock-looking Z flying arould a track, in and out of the curves, looking oh so good

I've watched all the Fast and Furious movies at least 10 times...each time gets more exciting than the last.

:wtf2:

kenchan 08-05-2013 01:14 PM

if i had more room, i suppose get a AT and dress it up. one MT Z for driving fun, one AT Z for dress up fun.

DEpointfive0 08-05-2013 02:14 PM

No, and everyone knows I've had problems, but lets say Nissan bought my car back and gave me an incentive to buy a new one, I'd spec it EXACTLY the same

Elan 08-05-2013 02:34 PM

Coming from the 350, hell yeah I would! Maybe the 2014 with premium sound though!

ShutokuZ 08-05-2013 02:35 PM

I guess it would have to depend on what the new model(s) will offer. As of now once my lease is over, will be stepping back into a BMW M series of some sort.

Ya i want a luxury sports car so bad. Even though the Z is sexy it still brings alot of boy racer tendencies which suck for a daily driver. I just want to drive to work without getting revved on by a Mustang GT.

ElVee 08-05-2013 02:41 PM

Tough question! I regret nothing of the decision to get my Z, and love it, but would I get it again if my car disappeared tomorrow? I don't know.

And that has nothing to do with the Z or my happiness with it. It's just a matter of whether I want to try something else if given that chance, or meet different needs (things that Z doesn't meet, like winter driving, practicality, etc). I've not driven enough cars to know which few make me the happiest, so I'd probably try something else.

For the Z, I'd stick with my model (auto coupe, gunmetal, touring+sport, no nav).

DEpointfive0 08-05-2013 02:46 PM

Another regret thread
