I don't know what's up with the cops in southeast Texas nowadays, they were out in force this weekend. I was on my way back to the house at about 2:30 AM and for the first time in my life after being followed for about three blocks I got pulled over around the corner from my house.
They were nice about it, said that my "music was too loud and I didn't have a front plate". The music wasn't too loud, but I told the officer that I was very sleepy and was trying to stay awake. I told one of them that I didn't want to use the OEM front plate because I didn't want to drill holes in my bumper, and he said that he totally understood that. They let me go on about my business without a ticket. I think they just wanted to check out the car since they were complimenting the color and everything. I'm contemplating getting a Sho-and-Go holder, but I wonder if it fits this car (it says universal but I wouldn't know where to put it). |

Labor day was a great day for a drive. I took a buddy out in my car for his first ride. When all the cars in front of us turned into the beach parking lot, we were all alone on a coastal road. We drove the 25 MPH speed limit for a short while then WOT with no VDC and the SRM on. After demonstrating the virtues of our car he had to admit that his Mustang SVT Cobra was no competition. Just about this time we came around a turn, that the VDC would have "kicked in" to curb the fun, to find a Sheriff's deputy ahead of us driving in the same direction and he was exceeding the speed limit by 20 MPH. I stayed behind him using the 2 second rule, until he made what appeared to be a 180* turn, and drove back the other way. I kept thinking he would try and come up behind me, but my buddy said "Take it easy he's radioed ahead to his partner to nail you". Sure enough another cop was waiting behind a bush at the end of a straight away. We waved and picked up the pace a short distance later.
Labor day saw even more cops out on the coast that day, more than I have ever seen before.

As far as I recall, motorcycles in general get the pass on loud exhausts on account of 'safety'. I believe its been hashed out in court sooo many times before already. So long as the exhaust still sounds like an exhaust and not something like a whistle tip. Similarly, states with front plate laws use discression on vehicles that within reason, look like they cannot accomodate a front plate. Some year vettes dont look like they could, but yes they can. Similarly with porshes, ferrarris, lambos, whatever. Its within reason that they cannot accomodate a bracket without heavy alteration of the bumper or an aftermarket offering. If someone is taged, they can fight this point in court. Unless of course the vehicle is offered with a bracket or option for one in the first place from the factory. Vehicles that look like they can accomodate a bracket or even have flat surfaces designed specifically for them but do not have one present, your just asking for unwanted attention. You may get off now and then with a warning, but just remember not having that front plate is simple probable cause to stop you and find out you may have been drininkg, driving without a license, have drugs in your car, etc. They just doin their job. Break the law, no matter how small and petty, be ready for consequences one day and dont argue with em in person(potentially gets you in deeper trouble), do that in court.

hahahahaha! i think you might just have the right shade for east texas cops or they just decided to give you a break for whatever reason? Texas cops profile hardcore... Most nissan and chevy owners in texas are darker in color than ford, honda n toyota drivers. so if u own a nissan or chevy in texas, you will be looked at more cuz cops are looking for the dark meat. lol This is straight out of several cops mouths. so dont think im just being a conspiracy theorist. lol. Ive had a few cops tell me that my nissan altima and G37 are the 2 worst cars i can have being a dark skinned puerto rican. Also the Z, maxima, titan camaro, malibu, and equinox also any civilian version of a cop car is bad for minorities to own. These are texas car targets when doing minority hunts. lol. Aint that some crap???? i dont care though... i buy what i like regardless. |

The good news is the cop magnet is heavier, so you won't have to go as fast to kill the gypsies.

And now states and local towns are hurting for money in this economy, so "revenue generation" is going to be a lot more noticeable.
