Plus, the quarter mile number diff is also far closer to .1 than .5 sec. Here, try it for yourself.

Yes, and that's reasonable, except it's not exactly a deterministic outcome.

Point in case. My 550 WHP FWD piece of junk could only pull a 4.3 sec 0-60 in its prime, even with impeccable driving. It's hard to predict 0-60 performance.

Besides, if you actually line up two cars that run relatively disparate 0-60 times (let's say 5 sec 0-60 vs. 6 sec 0-60), the distance that separates them really isn't that great or even noticeable until you hit higher speeds.

absolutely. the difference, visually, between a civic and a civic si is minimal, just like the difference between a 370z and a gtr is minimal. only after a distance greater than that covered up to 60 mph will there be a distinct difference.

Say I buy a bone stock Z, I put a twin turbo, raising the HP to say 500hp, with all $8000+ upgrades, what tangible and measurable benefits do I tell to justify my expenditures?

tangible, well, if you get a thrill out of racing/speed/acceleration/noise/etc than that is the "tangible" gain. There is little more than that really. Many do it for respect, many do it for pleasure or as a hobby. Only you can answer why you do it, or want to do it.

Personally, since I insist on working on and tuning my own cars exclusively, it is the sense of accomplishment after going from power level A to power level B on my own effort and skill alone. That's the only reason dyno numbers even matter to me (well, unless I happen to be setting a record

).

Track times are nice to track your progress as well. Definitely a good before and after, and they can definitely net you some bragging rights.

But the biggest component for me is the adrenaline-pumping experience that ensues when you press the loud pedal on your project car. And the noise... ah yes.

the sound of my car amazes me every time i drive it, and i dont expect that to change anytime soon! thats one of the biggest reasons i mod my cars.

yah, i posted wrong. i meant to type 0.1sec per 100lbs... not 0.5sec.

200lbs is not going to net you 1full sec of improvement. lol that would be too easy for them.
