Oil temp question?
I know some people have had issues with temps going upward toward 300 deg,I seen people install oil coolers to remedy this but I have never had this problem now my car was made in June of this year I was wondering if Nissan fixed this maybe you guys know if they changed something?
|
I am not aware if they changed anything. Others may be able to clarify that. But I can say that most of those who had overheating issues were tracking or autoX the car.

I get 225 degrees driving like a grandma... Car is still new and I do not even want to know what it will be at if I were to drive it hard.
|
Some have said that as the engine gets some miles on it, the temps tend to drop a bit.

There isn't really a problem on the street, temps will stay in the 180-240 range with all but the most aggressive drivers. Temps will climb when you are spending lots of time in the high RPM range with lots of WOT, this basically means track or track like scenarios such as mountain carving, hill climbs etc.
|
The high temps have inspired me to get the oil cooler installed when they replace my short block.
Driving uphill over 4000 rpm's will spike my cars oil temp 40 degrees in 90 seconds. Driving behind a Prius uphill below 4000 rpm's on a hot day can still get my oil temp to 260 degrees, it just takes 10 minutes. So I am getting the oil cooler to match my life style. |
Yep, when it has been in the 90's here, I easily saw temps in the 225-240 range without more than a few runs to 6000 rpm. When it dipped down into the 70's at night, I was able to keep it about 215 doing the same style runs.

I have not seen any temps over 210 even with the 95+ degree days we have had. The average seems to be 225-240 on a hot day. Maybe Nissan did make a change. I'm not exactly sure when mine was build. I will have to look when I get home.

Under normal driving conditions in Las Vegas, my temps have been hanging around 220-230.. outside temps have been around 102-111...
|
I don't think mine has gone over 200 driving at 75 for 15-20 minute rides, or 60 for 100 miles, even after redlining through the gears to 70 MPH.

While driving at 55-70 mph my temps drop to about around 210. That is with a cool weather today. around 70 degrees.

Either case, you're lucky to have a cool engine. |
