My water temp never budges (significantly) while I pull over to let the oil cool down.

Mine rarely gets above 220 and usually tops out around 210-215.

New personal best today. 262* at top of summit, 81* ambient. It was fun getting there I will admit.

Gotta say you're either driving like a grandma or your gauge is wrong. WITH the oil cooler I will have a real hard time getting it over 200 in those ambient temps, and without I would have been close to 230...

sometimes i wonder about these gauge's. i've seen mine average 210 to 240
on a hot day. i can stop to get gas whatever and turn car off car for no more then 10 minutes and get back in the car start it up go on my way and the temp will read 200 to 210 and stay there the rest of the trip go figure.

staring at the oil temp gauge is getting old. if it wasn't for it most of us would have one less thing to worry about. i'd rather have a true oil pressure gauge
that's more important.

Sonic,

with respect to your input, I am the opposite. I guess I value the oil temp gauge coming from the turbo world. Given the choice, in addition to the oil temp gauge, I would like an ampmeter, an AFR meter, fuel pressure meter.

I'm scouting out places for more gauges. I like to have my car feeding me all the info it can.

Sounds like your temp gauge is faulty

when I go canyon runs, my oil temp. is usually around 250. It can be your oil too. When you hit about 7k miles on a oil, you wouldnt want to track or autoX in that oil

It's not a "Real" Gauge. Light 7 stays lit from 155 to over 214 degrees. Real water temps typically run from 180-190. This car runs pretty cool on the water side..

Default High temps my first 30 min in the car

Leaving the dealer I was stuck in horrible surface street traffic. The oil temp well over 240 (not sure how much more, maybe 280). Once I got onto the freeway it went back down to 220 or so. The boost in oil temp seemed pretty extreme to me. It was cool (65 deg F) day and no sun.

The car had only 12 miles on it (has only 260 now). Is this a problem for new engines? Any experience with negative effects of high oil temps in the Z? I drive a touring with sport package and auto.
