a couple questions:
hey guys, I'm wondering if you can post any issues you've had with your Zs since you've had them here. I am planing to trade my 05 G35 for a Z in a few weeks, and I was wondering if these cars experience any of the same issues...
For example, my G35 constantly burned oil and i had to get an engine flush every time i got an oil change (dealer would not check for a leaking valve bc they wanted to charge me for the labor) and i've read the Zs are having a lot of overheating issues? Also, one thing that bugged me in the G was the constant rattling and shaking of random $hit in the interior...do you guys hear any rattles or squeaks in your cabins? thanks for your replies ! |

My Z doesn't burn oil, and doesn't run abnormally hot. Its a sports car so it won't be a quite as a G, and for some people there are rattles. Mine have seemed to work themselves out. Welcome BTW!

I've put 25,000 miles on mine so far with a commute of 60 miles a day. No issues. Great car. You won't regret it.

the tyre roar is so loud that it has to be a major rattle for you to hear it =)...
After a year my car has no oil burning issues also, nothing wrong with the oil temp on public roads and getting quite use to the road noise... almost to the point I don't notice it anymore... Though if Infiniti turned up in Australia i'd swap the car for a G37... |

got little rattling from roof sealing(interior part)
and i do have overheating problems when outside temp goes over 90, the oil gets hot allways but water temp just jumps up on certain condition of whether i do burn oil anyways, little by little

for normal driving the oil temps will not be an issue. It seems to vary car to car as well but for mine I've never broken 220. I could see if I was driving around w/ the rpms higher than 4k the whole trip I would guess I would break 220 pretty easily though.
Some cars have a roof rattle which I believe is related to the satelite radio antennae cabling. I need to fix this as it drives me nuts when it comes out to say hi and its not often enough that I can take it to the dealer to get fixed. My Z does not burn oil at a rate where I need to top it off inbetween changes as of yet. I would assume that will be an issue after 100k miles like most cars. |

thanks for the replies everyone. I love the design of these cars, and its funny how the craftsmanship of the 370z is on par if not better than the previous G cars. It is one thing that i always felt iffy about: the Japanese craftsmanship with these cars is just so often lagging behind anything German. I definitley jumped on the G train too early (i got the first 05 6mt on the east coast) and then 4 years down the line had a ton of problems with it... thats why im interested in what you guys are experiencing.

Only 350 miles so far, but felt compelled to post since I owned an '04 G35 6MT a ways back.
No burning oil in the G - however, there were creaks the moment I left the dealer's lot which drove me batty as well. Not so in the Z - quiet as a mouse. The tire roar is a bit much at first, but you'll get used to it. Definitely not as quiet as the G coupes.

My Z is fairly quiet, I cant hear the engine as much as I could in my M3 and id say its overall quieter. If you plan on tracking it you will have oil temp issues, other than that tho I havent heard of any problems that are common in these cars other than paint match issues, in some colors like pearl white the bumpers and side skirts will be a different shade than the rest of the car. If you say you wont buy unless its fixed they should fix it (my mistake they said they would later, and didnt). Overall im glad I sold my M3 and bought this, I didnt buy the touring so I dont have the same creature comforts that the M3 had in spades but honestly it dosent bother me at all anymore.

At 2500 miles, Nissan is putting in a new short block due to oil burning. I am adding an oil cooler at time of install, due to high temps. I do have a rattle on right side of cabin and have yet to derive origin.

Welcome you want regret getting a z. If it wasn't for the tire noise this car would be really quiet for a 2 seat sports car. up to 7400 miles so far no rattles
and does not burn any oil. the car is really solid built. check out all the reviews on line the car gets raves everywhere. to me its just got that WOW factor. |

I traded an '04 6MT G35 in on my 370Z a year ago. 9000 miles so far. No rattles but the interior noise on grooved freeways, caused by the tires is very, very high. Takes a lot of the fun out of long cruises. It is burning some oil, about 1 qt. per 3000 miles. Not enough to worry about but enough that I keep an eye on it. Hoping it will taper off after a few thousand more miles. The highest oil temp I have experienced was about 235 degrees with somewhat spirited driving on a very hot day. I wouldn't worry unless it was consistently close to 260+.
My G35 was a very expensive car to own. The tires were only good for about 25K miles if lucky, Brembo brakes were shot at 40K and cost $1800 to replace the pads and surface the rotors, and after 5 years and about 75K miles the interior was showing signs of wear to the leather. In fact the driver's seat started to look like crap after the 3rd. year. I hope the 370Z holds up better. At times I miss the trunk of the G35 and the sunroof, but overall I love my Z. |

My '09 uses no oil and oil temperature is simply not an issue in my normal driving---even in summertime with 90 degree temperatures. My Base model has no rattles or noises and I've never had to return to dealer for anything but the free oil change. In its Base version, for normal daily driver type car use, it is a user friendly vehicle and mine has been trouble free---simply a very beautiful, reliable Nissan.
