Default 2009 vs 2010?

After a bit of reading and researching on this site..

The only difference I seem to have found is that in the 09s, some had oil consumption issues.. while no 10s have had that problem (or at least yet)

So... what other differences (if any) are there in the 09s vs the 10s?

Any input is appreciated

You can find 09's for less money.

I've noticed that the 09's seem to be more likely to be associated with complaints about driveability quirks and other foibles, such as the ECU whine.

I'd get an 09 if you can find one at a great price (someone is selling one on here for 25K!) and just go over every TSB carefully to see what applies to you and then get it taken care of as warranty work.

Good luck -- happy shopping!

I've had my 09 for over a year now and not a single problem, including the oil consumption.

Heated mirrors isn't much of a necessity here in SoCal haha

but cabin filter?

you mean reduces noise etc?

I actually test drive 2 today, 1 base 6MT and 1 base Auto.
They didn't have a Touring Sport (which is what I want), and they weren't allowing test drives on the 40th.

Love the clutch and gearbox, but I remember now why I got an auto in my 335i and sold my Boxster last year... I couldn't do this every day... haha

So auto for me.

and that one for 25k, if he was in LA, it'd have already been mine
Too bad it's not

I was extremely SHOCKED at how comfortable the ride quality was.
and noise wasn't bad either

I mean, my BMW stock vs the Z, the BMW is smoother, but I remember when I had my coilovers... thing was rough as hell.
Z was very smooth.

The dealer (best test drive ever tbh) took me to the canyons near by.

I wasn't going to fast, maybe about 60 or so during some of the turn, and it was pretty stable... but I could sense the back end wanting to really throw itself out...

Would this be fixed with the sport mode and the LSD?
Cause.. it's not that it didn't handle well.. the back end just seemed too loose tbh...
I have yet to drive a sport mode though...

I auto-x regularly and do my fair share of aggressive street driving/ canyon carving. I can tell you that the back end is very planted and I've only encountered it breaking loose when I was too liberal with the throttle going into a turn or coming out of it. The car seems to do really well if not on the throttle going into the turn. For example if you come up to a turn and don't slow down but don't hit the throttle either it will typically hold, with in reason. Now if you are going slower the 2nd time around but are on the throttle while going into the turn then the back end will want to come out. The same can be said if you get on the throttle too soon coming out of a turn. It's all about how you drive. The only car I have driven that does better in the corners than this one is the 911 S AWD.

All that being said I have a 6mt Sport. The sport version will basically have the benefit of the LSD and wider tires over the base version, thats about it.

Lastly, even when the car gets sideways its very easy to control. It's not like some other cars that once the back end comes out you're in trouble. One of the best things about this car is that it's so easy to drive hard.

I'll be honest, since it WAS a test drive, and I am 100% unfamiliar with the car, I wasn't too keen on pressing the gas much and drive like I 'usually' do.

Since I'm not used to the throttle response, I would rather ease through corner than accidentally press too much throttle and cause the back end to come out.

is the base 370Z like the 350 was, where it not only excludes the LSD, but also traction control?

I could definitely tell that with wider rear tires, it would have been a huge difference.
I can tell that in my 335i.. i went from 285s down to stock 255s now..

I've had mine since November '09 and not a single problem (other than "soft paint.") Couldn't really ask for anything more.

I bought my 09 with 4k miles on it, for 8 grand less than the original owner paid. I found 2 others for a similar price, with similar miles, within a 100 mile radius using the usual online locators. But, you have to be willing to make compromises if you want specific packages or colors. And region makes a difference I'm sure.

VDC is included in the base model. Sport package has bigger brakes, tires/wheels, VLSD, SynchoRev Match for 6MT.

2009 versus 2010 the Touring+Nav was updated with better screen (supposedly), USB support instead of 12V iPod only, took out CompactFlash reader, but greatly increased USB hard drive capability (2000 songs versus 512 on CF) but I just got a 80GB iPod from eBay and have no problems in the 2009.

Also rumors of running change to air extractors to quiet cabin, and to engine to prevent excessive oil consumption (which only effects a few 2009). You can add the air filter to the 2009 easily if you want - it has the slot in the ventilation.

^^^ Here's good info. Hopefully that air extractor fix will be an easy one. *crosses fingers*

I'm still wondering why I need heated mirrors in SoCal... and why Nissan didn't put those cooling seats in the coupe either...

Test drove a roadster since the dealer didn't have a coupe outside, and those seats were nice, but they are different from the coupe seats.

Agree though, would like to have that option. Maybe someone makes a tiny electric A/C?

No..........I mean cab air filter for your A/C and heating system to keep pollen and other crap out of the car. I can also say a difference (at least on mine) was when changing the shift knob out, others had ruined there stock knob. Mine was easy to take off by hand.

I am hoping the same goes for the emphasis "demon Bolt" on the CAT's. They also got rid of yellow I believe and added the black cherry for 2010.
