the next gen z
I know most of this is old news by now, but still a decent read...to be honest im a little bit worried for the future of the car.
Nissan's Next Z at Powertrain Crossroads |
If they plan to drop power like that, they better figure out how to shave weight off the Z. Our cars are fat pigs.
|
Hmm. They could possibly go the FT-86 route and get the weight down to sub 3K lbs or they could bring a turbo into the equation I suppose...
Actually, a diesel-hybrid motor + turbo could make great power and have great gas mileage. Tuned right, boost could come on late (preserving MPG under normal driving) and the car would still feel torquey thanks to the electric motor doing the lowspeed grunt work. |
amg 6.3L v8 please. that's really the only one i want in the Z.

I'm not feeling the hybrid turbo idea though. |
in terms of power i kinda feel like the z is stuck...If they add a decent amount of power to comepete with the new 5.0 and other cars, there is only so much they can do..think about it..if the z came with 400 or so hp who would buy a gtr...in gtr news i saw that the refresh is coming in 2012...500hp and other new things.

I predict the VQ38TT will trickle down from the GT-R to the Z..... you heard it here first :P

Merc's 3.5? Hell no. Why not BMW's turbocharged 3.0? :P
