V8's and TT's? Yeah, I don't think so. We're in the second malaise era if you hadn't noticed. HP won't increase unless MPG increases accordingly. CAFE requirements are becoming loftier and will override the incredible HP advances (engine efficiency) we've seen in recent (10-15) years. I suspect we'll see cars with better power-to-weight ratios though as more money is put into materials rather than grunt.

The VQ38TT is an interesting option, converted to mass production and detuned somewhat. I do expect direct gas injection to also appear here - I'm surprised Nissan hasn't offered it (except in the Infiniti M56 right now). It was my one reservation on getting the Z in 2010. By the time this comes about, the warranty will be close to expiring, and I'll be looking to wrench in a couple of turbos. :driving: |
