How Far Can I Go?

I'm about to leave from somewhere in my Z and after I pulled in and parked I realized my gas gauge went from one led to zero. The next gas station is 7 miles...do you guys think I can make it? --- miles are also showing up on the LED screen.

You should be fine as there is a small reserve tank, however the gauges aren't very accurate. I've driven a few miles when it's hit " -- --" miles on the range remaining before.

By my experience, i had 12 miles left when it read ****

cptspeed 08-25-2010 02:44 PM

Just did this the other night went. 10 miles home then 3 the gas station the next day.

Gaiiden 08-25-2010 02:45 PM

it'll depend on driving conditions, of course, but if your gauge is still showing a number, you're good to go. I've been down to the "--" plenty of times (I always only fill up $20, so about half tank) and never run completely dry yet

wolf370z 08-25-2010 02:45 PM

Do you know the volume of the reserve tank? Thanks, by the way, ill update if I make it :icon18:

hypermile it! keep rpm down, short shift very early, feather the throttle as much as possible, and tailgate a big transport truck!

saqib55 08-25-2010 02:51 PM

i remember in my altima, the light would come on and it would flash ---, but there were still 3 gallons left, which was 45 to 70 miles depending as to how you drove.

kenchan 08-25-2010 03:13 PM

is the gas range gauge pretty accurate? i use it when my gas is low.

antman22 08-25-2010 03:29 PM

i suggest you go easy on the throttle heh.

Cmike2780 08-25-2010 03:50 PM

I think the reserve is rougly 1.5 gallons (when the DTE starts to reads ----). The capacity is 19 gallons I think. When you fill up, just subtract whatever you put in from 19 & remember that number for future reference.

wolf370z 08-25-2010 05:54 PM

I made it just fine I had actually driven a few miles before I got to where the screen said ---- miles. Today I drove from having one led bulb and ---- miles to zero bulbs and ---- miles. So if you get it to where its all dashes then you can go pretty far!

spearfish25 08-25-2010 05:55 PM

You'll go further if you use WOT from every stop light once you get to ---

Trips 08-25-2010 05:59 PM

I read it was 13 to 15 miles per led

More like 18-20mi/led unless you're dogging the car.

Left home with ZERO led. Drove 12 miles. Filled the Z up. It took like 18.6 gallons (only .4 gallon spare). Hope this helps (however, this is highway driving)
