Dealership horror stories???

First off i don't work for a dealership. But it seems like they take a lot of crap
which is well earned. Anyway what are some of your worse experience's with your local dealer. Mine would be they told me i needed complete AC unit
would run 1100.00. I said no way, took it to a local guy i trusted. turns out
it just need a belt the old one had fallen off it cost 69.95.

It is not so much that a story like that would be a horror story. But always remember that a dealer is not instructed to repair, only to replace. Also, many parts that dealers use are bundled in with other parts so say a spring in the front strut assemblies need to be replaced; they will not replace the spring alone, but will replace the entire strut assembly.

That is not to say they don't take advantage of people because they do many times.

Sorry didn't know about the other thread.
Other than search is there a way to check for older threads
so something won't be repeated.

Right after I purchased my brand new Altima from the local Nissan dealership I started to hear a grinding metal sound coming from the right front wheel area. The sound would get worse and worse the longer I drove the car (heated up) Brought it to the dealer twice and both times they said they could not duplicate the sound. Finally got one of the guys to take a ride with me. With me my mother and the service guy in the car the sound started, but strangely only me and my mother could hear the problem. When I drove the car back they took it from me and put it up on the lift. I caught them spraying brake quiet all over the rotors and calipers. I yelled screamed and cursed in the waiting room and ended up taking my car to a dealership over 10 miles away. They found the problem and fixed it the same day.

So this customer comes in and the motor is blown. The car has 5,000 miles over the powertrain warranty. (5yr,60K) So we called nissan and they approved a new long block(which I couldn't believe). We installed the motor, everything is great. A day later I receive a phone call that this person is unhappy that nissan will only warranty the engine for 1 year and 12,000 miles. I told them that they should be happy that it's warrantied. Well I find out the car is 2 years old and was out of warranty in the first year. So I am pretty sure that's the reason for the complaint. I agreed to pay half of the cost for an extended warranty. ($1800) When I should have said have a nice day. So the person declines this and wants me to get them into a new car and have it not cost them a penny.(Now they are getting greedy) Did I mention that they owe 7k more than what the car is worth. I don't know how many times I have to say I am not going to do that. Why won't they understand that's crazy. I went round and round for a week on this, banging my head against a wall. Well, now they hate me because I won't give them 7,000.00 and a new car, for the failure of Nissan's engine. I am glad I go this off my chest. That's a dealership horror story!
