Clarification Re: Sticking Hatch
Probably a stupid question, but I have not really found the answer on all of the Sticking Rear Hatch Release threads.
When the rear hatch button is pushed, is the rear hatch supposed to release and go all the way up to a full raised (open) position, or just release and require you to lift the rear hatch until it reaches the point that it goes up on its own? My rear hatch has never went to a full open position since I bought my 370Z, so I never really thought about the function of the rear hatch until I started reading the threads and saw the TSB. I just assumed that pushing the button was supposed to disengage the hatch, and you had to raise the hatch after it released. If it is supposed to release and go all of the way up, then I will take my car in to have it fixed. Thanks in advance for clarification! |

My 09 did the same thing, I took it ot the dealer and they installled the new hatch springs per the TSB. But it still hung up! I took it back to them a second time and they adjusted the latch and greased it and it seems to work properly now.

Does "working properly" mean it is supposed to go all the way up once you push the release button? Or, is it supposed to just release the hatch lock and require you to pull up on the hatch before it raises completely?

I have yet to see a 370z which has a hatch that fully rises after the release button is pressed. It is designed to unlock and pop up which then allows you to raise the hatch to it's highest point.

Thanks Christian.
I don't have any problem with lifting the hatch once it has released. I just thought that maybe the TSB was intended to have the hatch go all of the way up. I won't waste a trip to the dealer. |
